New open-world game coming out for PS3, I haven't really heard heaps on it, but essentially you create a superhero or something, then, I suppose, you like, um, bash bad guys and shit? I don't know. Looks promising, but I have no idea when it's coming out or even how it works - being developed by Sucker Punch studios

Sounds like a promising concept as far as superheroes go. I remember someone making a thread about game ideas and he suggested a game where you make a superhero and do stuff in an open world.

On another note has their been any great games that have a GTA like open world apart from GTA itself? The games that are good and have one usually are good despite of them and the open world part of the game is usually very crappy.
 
Basically what you are in it is a superhero and you get to control the fate of others around you, you can save the world or destroy it.

Well clearly I knew a few things about it - i.e. there's a trailer and an pic there and I knew it was a superhero game in an open-world setting.

The thread is more for news/discussion than in depth analysis (lol anal) of the game itself.

God forbid I post a thread about an upcoming game in the games board.

I didn't realise there was a requirement for me to already know everything about the game - I know it exists, I know the basic premise and who is developing it. I posted this thread so that hopefully some other people can shed some light for me.

Or is this not a discussion forum?

So I cant have an opinion of Killzone 2 based off several YouTube videos and screenshots, but you can?

bit of a difference - my opinion is one of ambiguity and indifference (because I clearly don't know that much about the game) - yours was one of extreme negativity (and you couldn't possibly know enough about the game to hold that opinion, as Queen Latifah would say, you was just hatin')

Some people here haven't heard anything of it, I gave them info on it - even if it's just a trailer and some basic info - tehre's your criteria met.

Besides, it isn't your place to even give me an opinion on what you'd like. Jam it pal.

I would like to personally thank you KP for bringing this game to my attention. I had not known anything about it, or even heard of it prior to this thread being started. But it is all because of you, that now I can continue to look up this game, to find out updates, but I'm sure you will be able to provide regular updates, such as the release date or any other information, in this one central location, thus meaning I don't have to search for it myself.

So thank you, thank you very much. Kudos to you!

Thanks Karl. I too had not heard of the game and now that it is on my radar, I will be looking forward to learning more about it.

I normally enjoy reading what HBK has to say but on this occasion I think it may have been a slight over reaction on his part.

If you have a 360, get Crackdown. Big really detailed world, essentially a GTA clone, but you are a cop who does what he has to (usually killing a lot of civilians in the process :D), and who gets increased skills for killing gang members, bosses, and completing races and stuff. By the time you upgrade your agility and strength, you are jumping from roof to roof around the city kicking the crap out of bad guys, and picking up cars and throwing them around.

I will never get tired of that game :thumbsu:

I couldn't really get into Saints Row, I got it when I first got my 360 and couldn't hack the targettting :p. Might give it a go soon, just can't find the time.

Crackdown however, is ridiculously fun. Kind of freeform in that there's no story, just 27 bosses around the world you have to find and kill. I just jump in and find silly stuff to do, like stick a few bad guys to my car with the harpoon gun, then drive around and watch them flop about. Or get a buddy on LIVE to drive a truck while I stand on the flatbed shooting the tires out of peoples cars and making them barrel roll, or just blowing them up. Picking up dead gangsters bodies and throwing them 200m off the top of a building gives me a chuckle.

It crosses GTA style freedom, with a superhero game where you have awesome mobility. I just bunny hop around firing rockets into groups of people, it's great.
