Adelaide fan without CEY.

Whys that?

He has come from nowhere and when Thommo is fit not sure he gets the same midfield time. Also, the pace of hte AFL is much different to the NAB. Should play Round one just not sure on his JS. Is on my back up list. I also have ZERO crows players in my team, if they do well, all good for me anyway.

If he does play round one (and he's probably a lock), isn't the safer option picking him considering a. he has scored more than any other rookie in his price range and b. he is actually named?

I won't be picking anyone not picked in round one instead of him if that's what you mean.

Didn't think you rated Salem?

I dont at 180K but as a total scoring option I think he has job security, which apart from Clark most other fwd rooks dont imo. Weighing up my other risks in terms of job security and atm salem based on JS gets a spot

Highly inflated numbers against the Dogs in game 2 and Essendon game 3, worth the price on job security though.

This can be said for any cheap loophole option.
Yes it is, to varying degrees. My point was that ideally you don't want a loophole option from the same club as any elite midfielder you have in your team. It's one of several things to be taken into account along with the number of "late in the round" games played by his team and dpp status if you require it.

True. But most of us want a R/F and the other option, Cox, plays early in the round nearly every week so isn't a viable loophole option full stop.
Yes that does complicate it. I agree Cox is a terrible choice. Not only does he play too many early games but he also rules Pendles out as a VC.
I'm not after a DPP R3 so that's not a concern for me, but I understand that it is for many others.

But SC Paige has M Cox therefore that makes him a good pick.

Goodes..

How I love the man. Comes in at rookie price in 2013, earns us all >300k, takes a year off and now back at a lovely 245k. Here's hoping he takes 2016 off.

Bring back Relton..

Are those starting Read picking him purely as a VC loophole option or do they have a R/F DPP in their forward line so they can switch them into the ruck if one of their ruck man misses games. Does he have any chance of getting a game? I'm tossing up whether to start with Read or to go with someone like O'brien/Naismith and hope they get a game down the track
R/F DPP

This exactly. There are a lot of bolded names here. Seems a bit risky to head in to the season with 3 bolded rookies in the one line.

Oxley will play early as I undersand it and his NAB numbers were pretty good. A genuine running player with a high ceiling IMO.

Sheed is a top ten pick and a qulaity footballer. Take him over a Port reject any day of the week. Melbourne have so many similar types I am not sure that Newton will score that well. Time will tell I guess.
Newton more likely to be a Viv Michie than Dom Tyson.
Good news. In comes Oxley.

Agreed on Newton - hence him not being in my side - and personally I absolutely love Sheed (had him last year), just can't see him scoring well enough to justify his >200k price tag.
So guys, where does this leave Vandenberg if he is upgraded and put into a side? I don't know too much about him and didn't watch many games at all, so asking the brains trust.....

*lol brains trust!!!! :rolleyes::drunk:

I thought most people had cooled on Anderson quite a bit, was surprised to see him in most teams. I'm still considering him, just concerned about JS.
