Yep Hackdorn

Actually didn't talk about it too much.... spoke more about how intense the pre-season has been and all messages coming out of freo they will be leaving no stone un-turned (of that nature) this season with it likely being the last for pav and macca

Did hint there were quiet rumblings around that pav wont be captain this year - but fyfe to step up - and pav take a mentor role of fyfe in his last year

team photo also done today

Terrible news if true, the few times I have spoke to Anthony he always comes over as a good bloke. Hope he can get back on the park but reckon you can only operate on knees so often with not much chance of full recovery.

Well we all knew that something was up with Mora since he hadn't been sighted on the track for the last month. But was this different to the cartilage tear from late last year?

Anyways, I wouldn't write him off just yet as this is not troublesome knee, although he does seem to be constantly breaking down. They are only talking a month out though.

Morabito is being managed in his training because of swelling on the knee after WAFL games last year and he is experiencing similarly swelling after heavy
training drills this preseason
so the story goes from coaches that I've spoken to.
He's doing everything that is being asked of him and is coming on just fine under the modified training programme .

so the question is...was this intel good or was it bum drum from the people you spoke to? There's a little bit of truth and a little bit bullshite.

Word from a source very close to the club is that Morras knee is not going too well. Lots of swelling and pain post training, so he is not able to get decent training loads in. He looked really proppy at training prior to Christmas.
I really fear for his carreer. Hopefully he can get over this and force his way into the 22 this year.
Can't reveal my source Simpson. Suffice to say, you can't get much closer...
Standby for Hackdorn to "break" the news he read on Bigfooty

The above has all proven to be correct, only it wasn't Hagdorn this time;)

I have already been vindicated with the Club now coming out about Mora ,poor kid , so I would wait for the news on Sylvia's ankle too come out as well .
This time last year we had far more coming back from operations and players missing extended parts of the pre season so to be honest we are actually in pretty good shape .

The news released by the club is basically the same info I posted . Soreness after a hard session . The specialist may recommend a small clean up
NOT MAJOR SURGURY as some are suggesting by their posts . This is not the end of his footy career just a slight hic up along the way .
The intensity of training that the players are doing will show up any niggle quick smart so these things should be expected . Its far better to find out now rather than later when the season is in full swing .

Concerning, but doesn't sound anywhere near as bad as some people are making out.

It's all riding on the Specialist's assessment in the next few days.

As best as I can make it out....

Mora first damaged the same knee at training in September. Scans confirmed that it was not a structural injury so they did not operate at that point and opted for a 4-6 week rehab. Then he's had another incident during December and torn some cartilage in the same knee (which is about when he was observed to be limping on here). They have tried to manage him in the rehab group but it continues to swell and are now referring him to a Specialist.

The Sunday Times journos suggest he has had / will need an operation and will be out for a month which does not appear to be accurate at this point as the Club has since stated that he is yet to see the Specialist who will make an assessment on whether more surgery is required.

There'll no doubt be an update after he sees the Specialist but here's hoping.

Reports seem to confirm that it is his left knee, same as the reco's

There has been plenty of dead weight on Freo's list over the years. Morra has that much potential that I can see why Freo want to give him every opportunity. There is still a preseason and season to play out and no hard in giving him one last opportunity.

A long season again ahead my Buddy, but I and I'm sure many others will be with you no matter the prognosis. Would seem we either get this right or we must bid a solemn farewell - you'll be Freo regardless.

Pav sums up best
"It's just been a stop start career unfortunately for him and that's where the strong group behind him need to get along and support him. And that's certainly been the case for him again throughout this pre-season whilst he's been in the rehab group."

Greetings. Sorry to hear about Morabito's ongoing issues. We on the GFC board are following his progress closely in relation to Menzel as well.

Hope it all settles and he can find his way back.

Best.

What is the name of the Peel coach? If that guy has been told to not expect to see Sylvia before round ten then it would mean good things...
This would mean he won't be playing any footy early on in the season seeing as he's not training with a ball or out on the park with the others. He'll be well behind the 8 ball and the coaches would probably expect him to be pushing for selection by around rd 10.
