OP:

I can't find a dedicated thread for this year so let's put all the injury discussion here (and illness etc).

If previous years are anything to go by we can pretty certain that neither the club doctors nor the WB Medical Room web page will give us the full story. We understand some of the reasons why but it's pretty frustrating for supporters, so this thread is also an opportunity to be a little bit ahead of the official pronouncements.

What we know at this stage is:
Roughead - hamstring surgery - 8-12 weeks from 21 Feb.
...

Here's a summary from Tom Daniels in the pre-season thread:

So who is currently injured? Im starting to lose track right now!! I know of:

Picken- Cheekbone?
Prudden- ACL
Redpath- ACL
Wallis- Leg
Roughead- Hammy
Bont- ??????
Greene- Foot
Dickson- Something i cant remember!
Smith- Also cant remember
Morris- Just the general soreness
Boyd- Gastro apparently (not really an injury i know)
Tweedie- Broken Leg recovery?
Suckers- Achilles/Ankle recovery
Wood- Ankle recovery
Roarke- Cant remember?

Is that all of them? If that is that means the only boys who didnt play on Sat. that arent injured are:
Collins
Lipinski
Young
Mullenger-McHugh
English
Williams

Please feel free to contribute injury news or opinions but it would help if you said whether it is fact, rumour or just your own suspicion (no fake news or alternative facts pls - that includes you ScragCity!).

From time to time someone will collate the "known knowns" (and even the "known unknowns") into an injury list here.

Hey mate, through being mates with him I can confirm that Greene's foot injury has healed.

I think Mitch Wallis is targeting round 2, which would be pretty remarkable
He mentioned on the broadcast he still has a few boxes to tick and then he starts training to play. So would imagine he would be starting that training around the start of the season, by the time he gets his fitness up, would be round 4 or 5. Remarkable though, at first when it happened I thought he may miss most of this season as well.

Wouldn't expect him to get back to his best in 2017. It's a bonus if he does. Maybe 2018.
Nathan Brown never got back to his best.

If we are being honest, Boyd in the ruck is probably the most likely scenario anyway. I can definitely see Campbell not being named even if he is fit.

If we didn't have Cloke or Cramieri, different story.

FFS, here we go again.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't he out for a period last year with an ankle as well?

He was indeed.

>3rd man up gone
>Roughead injured
>Campbell injured

3 pretty unfortunate events for our ruck before the season has even started.

Hopefully he'll be available for selection come round 1. Still what 3 weeks out.

Yup...I hate the idea of Boyd being our specialist ruck and having Cloke etc to pinch hit in there. Boyd will get murdered in the ruck by guys that are experienced in the position. Especially with no 3rd man help.

I'm still very much about having an actual specialist ruckman and then having Boyd as that second option.

It's absurd and extremely frustrating that both of them have hurt themselves after a total of one preseason game.

On the positive side, with a full pre-season behind him I can't see it being an issue for Tom's fitness base going into round 1.

Did ok against Mumford.

Pretty sure Tom had shoulder (and possibly ankle?) surgery so don't believe he's in the top 20% of pre-season performers.

People are going to have to get used to the media blowing up every little minor injury/incident about us now. We're relevant.

So this is the current injury list and when it was sustained:
Roughead- Hamstring (JLT 1)
Tweedie- Leg (Draft Year)
Redpath- Knee (Last Season)
Prudden- Knee (Last Season)
Wallis- Leg (Last Season)
Dickson- Hip (Pre-Season)
Greene- Foot (Pre-Season)
Campbell- Ankle (Training last week)

Only caught the end of it , but Campbell injury worse than just a rolled ankle ?

Not one of our injuries, but former Footscray Bulldog Mitch Hannan had his two front teeth knocked out in a drill at training yesterday apparently.
No good was ever going to come of being drafted by Melbourne. :(
