Injuries 2019

I love how the club says unrelated foot sprain, like we’re all idiots.

Same with Hill.

Of course they’re bloody related. When’s the last time you’ve heard of someone getting a random mid foot sprain??
Al the time lmao

I'm not sure there is a link between a chronic stress injury and an acute injury.
There are a bunch of articles on this and in effect there isn’t. Though there are always outliers and one has to investigate inclusion/exclusion criteria thoroughly.

So many people here scoffing about it being unrelated... I suppose all of them have seen the scans, completed physical examinations and discussed with colleagues. I get that people are sceptical but one thing to remember would be that if the club launches an investigation it would be done with an outside specialist. If mistreatment is found or something similar then the club docs would not only lose their jobs but potential far worse happens. Ok not saying we get all the info - I would say there isn’t lack of care or conspiracies underfoot either.

I've been trying to think of a causative link and I've come up with a hypothetical.

If he is wearing a softer soled boot to soften the impact while running that could have allowed more twist in the foot when he pushed off on his toes.

I’m 100% scoffing.
Let’s all be honest here. If you were 13 rounds into a season and at the start you had to bet on who would get injured?
Where would Pearce, Taberner, Hogan, Hill, Bennell fall?? They’d have just about been in my top 5 for likely to get injured.

My next 5? Darcy, Logue, Blakely, Switkowski, Cox

We’re not rehabbing blokes well.

Even Sandi and Ballas had setbacks. Didn’t Ballas do his hammy again first game back for Peel??

Something is off.

Shill is starting to feel like a bit of a Daniel Wells situation to me.

If the dude can get a big money, long term deal at GC he should take it. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make it to 250 games at the rate he is going.
I’d encourage him to look if it didn’t mean a large chance of losing brad. Spoke to Jon Griffen last weekend, and he seemed concerned about the offer to hill from gold coast. Not sure if he knew anything.

I still think this isn't it for Bennell. When you have a player of his caliber you stick through it even with the slightest chance that he could turn out alright. I'm perfectly fine with keeping him on the list compared to someone like Crowden or Nyhuis. He costs us barely any money anyway. I say rookie list him.

Bennell would be handy assistant playing coach at a wafl club.
Who knows if he can get on the park next year we could pick him up in the mid season draft, in any event I think he has future in an off field role.

Lyon said recently in a presser that this was clearly his last chance.
