Whether he gets through a game without injury is one thing. But the other risk is whether he can pick up the pace of the game straight off. He has barely played this year. We can't expect him just to pick up where he left off as an AA bound midfielder in 2024.I like to approach this from an opposition perspective.
What would the opposition coach be happy with? I think they'd get quite excited knowing that we were starting Treloar. Such a huge risk and it's not worth it.
The small advantage we'd have of him getting through a full game would be enormously outweighed by the risk of him breaking down.
The high risk of starting Ads increases the opposition's chances of winning.
He simply doesn't have the same burst or explosiveness that he previously had and we shouldn't be pretending we'll get 2024 output from him.
Being rusty is a huge risk for a knockout game where midfield dominance is critical. Such as Rd 24 or an EF.
It's less of a risk for Rd 23 (vs WCE) or if he were the sub.
So the ideal would be to bring him back with a full game hit-out against the Weagles. If he comes through that OK then it lessens his risk for Rd 24. It's also likely to tune him up a bit - we can expect he'll improve on whatever he does against WCE.
