Four Bulldogs could return to playing at either AFL or VFL level this weekend in what would be a welcomed boost for the team.

Pending they get through training as expected, Adam Treloar and Nick Coffield could line up for their first competitive hit-outs of the year.

“In some great news, Adam has built some great continuity in his training across the last few months after suffering an injury-interrupted preparation to the season,” Head of Sports Medicine Chris Bell said.

“For the last three weeks, he has trained fully and completed sessions that replicate match demands.

“He is chomping at the bit to pull the jumper on again, so if he gets through training like we expect, he will return to availability.

“Nick has progressed well following his hamstring injury a few weeks ago. He has integrated back into full training and completed a game-like session on the weekend.

“He will fully train again this week, and if everything goes to plan, Nick will be putting his hand up for selection.”

Lachie McNeil is also on track to return, while Luke Kennedy is progressing through the concussion protocols well.

“In the last few minutes of our Round 6 AFL game, Lachie suffered a low-grade hamstring injury , which forced him to miss the GWS game on the weekend,” Bell said.

“We will work through a process with Lach this week, but remain optimistic that he will re-align with availability for this weekend.

“Luke has continued to progress in line with our expectations following his concussion in the Round 4 VFL game.

“He still has some final boxes to tick within our concussion management framework, but at this stage we are anticipating that he will return to play this weekend.”

Does anyone have more information on weightmans injury. Indefinite knee injury, does he need surgery? What's the long term diagnosis?

Weightman has bipartite patella, which hadn't been an issue until he took a big hit to it during preseason. He's had surgery and then a cleanup.

In a 2015 study on the surgical treatment of a bipartite patella, 84.1 percent of participants had reduced pain, and 98.3 percent were able to return to their presurgery activity levels once they healed. Recovery time depends medical history, age, and type of surgery. However, most people recover within a few months.

Important to remember he was really ramping up his training until he injured his quad (I think it was?) recently, so that's set his knee rehab back a little bit, which I'd suggest is why they're not really able to put a timeline on it.

Liam jones has a calf injury he picked it up at training and could miss the next month

Jones (Calf) - 3-4 weeks
Croft (Foot) - 4-6 weeks
Garcia (Knee) - 2-4 weeks
Darcy (Knee) 6-10 weeks
Weightman (Knee) - Indefinite

Unfortunate for Jones but we're better placed that ever to be able to cover him and it might actually be beneficial long term to place more responsbility on JOD (& Buss). Darcy's timeline hasn't moved from last week :(

Sneaky late edit by the website team.

It's a little bit of strange timeframe. Usually the estimations are for longer injuries (12-16 weeks etc.) but 5 weeks isn't all that far away. I'd love to be a fly on the wall on when they actually think he'll return.
