Yeah - nah... a bit like the ocean all of the above clubs numbers are fluid week to week/month to month and year to year - geez it was only two months ago that the saints had a list of soft tissue player injuries the length of the Nepean Highway.

AND...

So players the players below - 53% out of the last week 'out of date' listed post, never had injuries until they were managed by Burton?

How so mate, please elaborate? I would actually say that you putting up an injury list from last week, which is not detailing an increase in our injury numbers of 25% since then, and encouraging us to compare to the rest of the league, when this thread was bought about as a result of the weekend, would be an example of you not thinking through what you type.

I don't know what you mean about the 53% part, it doesn't make sense, I assumed at first it was about players in their first or second year with the club but as Merrett, Staker and Hanley are in there, its not that - I cant respond to it.

I didn't make that very clear, did I? Yeah, regular soft tissue injuries are always a red flag.

Sorry but not sure this proves your point. According to this list we have the highest number of injuries total, the highest number of season ending injuries and the equal highest number of indefinites. I think I'm more concerned now than I was before....
 
Didn't Burton have a 3 year plan to improve core strength, build greater resilience and be an elite running team or something similar?

A lot of the guys on our list over that period seem to have gone backwards in terms of their ability to stay on the field. A lot of the injuries are collision injuries but at some stage it stops being luck and becomes a factor of how we prepare them.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that we need to look elsewhere next season. Our sluggish starts to the season fitness wise just don't cut it.

If we are switching hopefully it is early enough to allow the new guy/team to run the whole off-season not just pick up afterwards.

^ agree. I'm less concerned with the injuries many of which are colision based and more concerned with the hopeless starts to the season and the fact we always seem to be one of hte slowest teams in the league in gut running and transition running.

Who Quigs?

Who has gone backwards or has less time on ground percentages of the three years?

It's easy to sit back and throw assertions and yes just as easy for me throw back neighs.

It's known we play on the hardest surface in the league. One assumes player management has evolved around this knowledge. Our soft tissue issues like quads and hammies have reduced remarkable since the Drummo and early Adcock days. Good luck or better player management? I'm thinking the later. Are the kids playing too hard, too young? Have look back at the GWS and GCS injury lists over the last 3 years and that's even with the use of high rotations and controlled game numbers per year.

I know these injuries are not really burton's fault. But when you look at our fitness, our lack of muscle and how injury ridden we have become, i don't see any reason why he should still be around. I just hope brisbane actually hires someone with decent credentials next time

And it doesen't include a further 6 players added over the weekend, not sure how concerned you are now? Lol

Haso - let's imagine burton walks in and says "I am happy to stay on a reasonable contract but only if it's a 3 year extension" - do you think we should sign him again, or should we seek a fresh start?

Has he done enough to risk things improving under his watch? Would you be confident?

No one is blaming burton for impact injuries.

Love your posts Haso.... But not this one.
The buck has to stop with someone.

I want to see my team bigger and stronger next year. Maybe we're getting more injuries because the boys bodies aren't strong enough to withstand big impacts.... So things break and tear.

The NRL boys put on a huge amount of muscle to withstand the punishment of their game.
Obviously in AFL they couldn't run all day being that big..... But I'd like to see an extra 2-3kg of muscle on our established players... 5kg on the young ones.
They should all look like Mitch Robinson.

Anything less is a failure.

Soft tissue injuries have gone down across the board. Our numbers are still above average though.

Of the guys who have been here I would suggest that Redden is much less durable, Hanley has worn down with a hip injury, Harwood is now missing time with injury, Leuenberger has always struggled but has shown no improvement in durability similarly with Maguire, McGuane has gone from missing games because he was not good enough to missing games because he has been injured, Merrett's body seems to have packed up, Staker cannot get on the park. You can argue that many are collision injuries but a lot of hte programs are designed to minimise the chances of those collisions resulting in injury. It is never going to be completely foolproof but other teams are much more successful at avoiding these injuries.

Sorry Quigs, I stopped there, now I know you are baiting me.

Redden played 112 games in a row from 2009 to round 15 last year. Came back for 2015 played the first 7 and is suggest he will miss 1-2 weeks with a 'back'.
