Just curious to see what kind of injuries people have gotten from playing local footy?

I have played local footy for a few years now and done relatively well but have had some injuries along the way such as dislocated both pinky fingers and also broke the left one at the same time of the dislocation. Head cut open, hamstring strain and quad strain.

But the one injury that i have had for over a year now that i am really struggling with is High Hamstring Tendinopathy - i have had it for so long and it has kept me out for basically the whole of this year, i have been seeing a physio for a while and it is getting better, i have noticed improvements but it just isn't fully going away and it is beyond frustrating, i miss playing so badly. Does anyone know much about this injury that they could possibly share? Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

Did my ACL when i was 15 just before i was meant to do presason with North Adelaide in the Under 17's.
After that a lot of soft tissue injuries, mainly my driver and hammie.
Did my back when i was 24 in a preseason game and have never played sport since. Collapsed L4 and L5 disc thats never recovered. Cant even do the dishes for 10mins before i have to lie down.
I would take 20 ACL's over a back injury.

Right ankle is screwed, tendons are all buggered. Had a PCL on left knee, and God knows how many broken fingers and noses.

I had a groin injury that lasted almost a full season because they're so hard to get rid of when you're consistently playing. Hammys are always an issue, my own fault because I never stretched when I was younger, I'm paying for it now. Same goes for my achilles. Most of my fingers are bent all over the place now. Worst one is my broken nose which almost collapsed on one side. I want to get it fixed to fix my breathing but apparently health insurance won't cover it because it would be considered cosmetic surgery.

Not from footy, but played basketball for a few years with (surprisingly) no injury barring the odd finger hyperextension. Switched to hockey, fractured my talus (bone in ankle joint), pretty stopped playing after that due to patella tracking issues in my right knee. Had a bike crash a couple of weeks ago, landed me in hospital for a few days. Have never had surgery though.

both my legs broken.
Snapped my ankle.
lost 6 of my teeth.
punctured eye socket.
Tuff game.:D

Most of my playing injuries were pretty tame.
Had more injuries playing one year of Rugby Union than all my other sports combined.
Tight end prop, so had my shins ripped apart in every game. Broken nose from a knee when tackling.
Dislocated finger (yep never got one playing AR) which was pulled back in straight away.

Now injuries from being a dickhead, a completely different story!:p

Tight end prop, you say?

Hmmmmm. What is a tight end prop used for?

:D

This year...
  • Concussion - was in the final practice match, missed the first two matches of the real season. Genuinely had headaches still about 8-9 days after it happened.
  • Corked thigh #1, felt shithouse for two weeks, missed 0 games.
  • Corked thigh #2 other leg, (c*nt stuck his leg out deliberately as I had dodged him) felt shithouse for about 6 weeks. Missed 0 games.
  • Corked thigh #3, was just over corked thigh #2, and had a bloke duck his head as I went to tackle him, and his head went into the exact same spot as my previous corky, then someone else fell across my leg. Went to the physio, he said it was the worst corky he had ever seen. Went overtime on the physio, got it going back to normal after about 3 weeks.
  • The injury that I got to my knee in the same instance as CT3, saw the trainers think I had a possible tear of my meniscus. I never got it checked, and it eventually stopped hurting, but there was definitely something wrong with the lateral movement of it. Missed 0 games (should have missed at least one though)
  • Rolled ankle.

Ruptured acl
broken arm
broken jaw
split webbing and broken finger
plantar fasciitis
Shin splints
multiple rolled ankles
meniscus tear
rotator cuff tears

ACL was by far the worst... probably followed by the plantar issues

I crushed my L4 L5 in my mid-20's in a sailing accident when I hit a winch backwards in heavy seas. Have you consulted an orthopedic specialist for advice on a laminectomy (fusing L4 and L5)?
