Broughts slid into a player, eyes on the ball and protected it. Almost identical to the Lindsay Thomas one, really shouldnt have anything to worry about..

I know... Rhys Stanley, Kosi, Jason Blake..... shudder.
Probably best for Stanley to run around and try to get in his way.
Stanley's a good young player, might go ok with a bit of added responsibility. Will be good for his long term future/development to play first ruck for a month or 2. :thumbsu:

Greg Broughton is challenging his charge, when I saw it, like the others (thanks for the replies btw!) it looked nothing. But you never know with the MRP, will be watching intently tonight.

Agreed James, he won't get off, not after the Rohan fiasco.

However, looking at it again, it really is soft. He has eyes for the ball and the ball only-Swallow came from out of his sight and was well and truly to the ball second.

Disgraceful decision. Fingers crossed.

I just watched the interview with the MRP guy on afl.com.au and am now convinced that the AFL will make an example out of Broughts because they sent a memo out to all clubs last week about this very thing. If you slide into the ball, it is presumed that you may injure an opponent whether you meant to or not.

FWIW, It looked like to me that Broughton did not see him as Swallow came in from the side, if not slightly behind him. But this may not save Broughts, as they are basically saying, if you slide in and someone gets injured as a result, you will get weeks because we warned you before hand...

What a d***head, why would you challenge a reprimand?

He'll get a week now, lucky to get a reprimand in the first place.

Any news on Treloar? I'm happy to carry him for a few weeks as I have forward line cover.

That was a stupid challenge - I'd like a Dockers fan to explain how they would have weaseled out of that one rather than simply comparing it to the Linsday Thomas incident.

not even a fremantle supporter but I can even tell you that he should have got nothing for it.

firstly, his intent was to go for the footy with his eyes on the ball the whole time, thats what is shown on the replay, secondly it wasn't a slide tackle as he dropped his knees rather than going in with the feet, even more so there isnt even a rule regarding slide tackles,- coming from the chairman.

not only that..but only after broughton had the ball in his hands the contact was made from his knee to swallows ankle. even the AFL agreed that it was an 'unfortunate accident'. going even further - Broughton was rewarded with the free kick! it was unfortunate that swallow injured his ankle (which should have nothing to do with the suspension anway) but if it was so bad, why did he play on?

its AFL not soccer or netball. the MRP need to open their eyes otherwise they will have to deal with this every single week
