One possible positive that may come out of this ridiculous run of injuries we have had this year could be the effect it has on those who are still playing.

Apart from the games that younger players are getting and the improvements in beams and sidey etc one aspect that I believe could be a major factor is the responsibility and drive it gives to the team.

I think everyone feels for those with season ending injuries and seeing how hard they train and what they endure from a physical and mental perspective must surely inspire them to do the same. To want to win and give 100% so as not to disrespect their fellow team mates who cant join them on the field may become a motivational driver.

Imagine in finals when in the rooms and jonno,Bally, keefe, kraks and caff are there in their suits and bucks refers to them, asking the players who are fit and about to go into battle to look at those blokes, to think about all the work they have put in through the year etc and to not let them down!! I know I would be emotional and this could be an intangible weapon we may have when the time comes.

One thing I think it will do is give those players at the bottom of our list the feeling that there is at least a chance that they'll play senior footy. Normally they'd need a lot of hard work and a lot of luck. They've got the luck now (albeit bad luck) so now it's up to them.

That kind of optimism has to help on the training track and on the field in the 2nds.

Agree with opinions on the positives.

The only problem we have this year is re-signing blokes who have stepped up massively due to our injuries.Sidey, beams, Goldy, Keeffe and maybe Sinclair are all worth more now than at the start of the year. Then you add the big guns in cloke and Reid. And that is without taking into account a bloke like harry, injured players like krak and caff and dependable players like bj and Taz, who may retire.

So if we don't include bj and Taz that's 10 pretty important players to resign and 12 if Taz and bj want to go around again.

We are in a tough place.

My actual concern is that the injuries will burn us out at the end of the year because we haven't been able to rest key players due to lack of depth.

E.g. last year.

Not saying it'll happen, it's just a concern.

That is a very good point and a valid concern but there 2 arguements against that 1)with all the injuries players are getting an enforced rest not ideal we know but it may help us at the end of the season.
2)This season I do feel we have not come out in top gear right away we are working our way into the season,in the 1st month of the season we were getting overran a bit in the final qtrs of our matches but we are are really coming good on that front in our last matches we could have been overran in the last qtr but we ran the games out well, really encouraging.

I do think we have to managed some of our players I would like Pendles and Sidey to have a week off they have been there all season but no surprise in that they have been very durable over the course of both their careers,Jolly is a must to rest for 2 reasons he is our best chance and the other is Wood must get game time as well,Jolly is no longer as durable as he once was and that happens.

You make a very good point there magicpants, I do agree with you 100%.

Our boys are showing every indication that when their backs are to the wall this year, they do their best work.
