HALL IS READY!!!!!

Hall and Ruffles both looked like 13 year old kids when they played in the NAB game, but it seems both have made pretty big strides in a short amount of time.

What makes you say that Hall is ready? Physically ready? Or more his ability?

Personally I would love to see Hall and Ruffles get a go late in the season IF they can handle the bigger bodies.

Simply because he doesn't play for sowfs

It's similar to soccer substitution. In the NAB cup their were 2 additional players on the bench who weren't allowed on the field until they had been swapped with one of the 22. Once someone in the 22 has been swapped they weren't allowed back on again. It becomes quite strategic as to who you choose as the extra two subs, do you have you save your players for emergencys (i.e Saturday night) or do you choose a 22 with the knowledge that 2 will be subbed off at half time.

Personally I think it's a good idea, adds a lot of fairness to games when key players are injured early on.

I think this would need to be policed carefully by the AFL, to stop clubs hedging bets selection wise and pulling changes to re-structure etc. If they implement something it should be for injury only, and the player would not be able to return. Not sure how they police this, perhaps a independent doctor at each game or something. AFL clubs are quick to work the technicalities of rules to their advantage these days.

If the player is substituted because of injury, that player cannot play the following week! So only used for serious injuries, (or Head and Murphy:))

Holy shit - 8 of those guys were injured in the game against Richmond.

That's gotta be some sort of record.

It was our worst nightmare at the start of the season and it's come true!!! Injuries have/are ruining our season. We win the game against sydney, we lose Rhys, we win against west coast, we lose Crowls, and it really goes downhill from there.

Depressing really.

For someone reason I don`t see it like that at this stage.

This year we are building for the future so it won`t hurt to get games into the young guys when we shouldn`t really be looking towards the finals this year anyway.

Imagine the depth that will develop..

From AFL website, good to hear Ballas is going to be a go-er!

Forward Hayden Ballantyne has been declared available for this week's trip to AAMI Stadium while rookie Clancee Pearce performed well in the WAFL at the weekend and is a chance to be elevated.
The club has until noon on Thursday to submit the necessary paperwork to upgrade a rookie.
"We've got a lot of young players that we want to develop and we can fast-track them hopefully," Grover said.

Well the article doesn't say much (in fact contradicts what we've heard so far, eg. does Des has a quad or calf strain?), but it looks like Johno is worse than first thought (2+ weeks) and McPharlin and maybe Hill are not quite as bad (a chance to play this week). Should we risk Hill if he's not 100%?

Now would be a good time to rest Hill anyway. From memory, Palmer played 19 games last season, and ideally Hill would do the same.

All these injuries will certainly take the media emphasis off expecting us to win. That's good. Games into young players is good too, but we are going to flog a flogging or two along the way. :thumbsd:

On the sports report on 7 Harvey said McPharlin was a 50/50 chance, and Johnson and Headland are looking at two weeks on the sidelines. I really hope that is the case, but they are probably being optomistic.

ABC news tonight said 8 players had been ruled out and 8 more were in doubt.

That would be these guys then?

If italics is in doubt and bold is ruled out.

Don't know how reliable that info is but with so many players in doubt, we might be looking at 3+ debuts this week

Indeed.

Imagine having Head, Murphy Gilmore and Bradley in the same team. We'd get absolutley slaughtered.

As a side note, is our hard preseason schedule to blame for all these injuries, or is it just circumstance?

 Stop right there!!

Are we even going to be able to field a team?? Will we be allowed to debut so many players in one week??

Swap Browne and McPharlin around, the latter still being mentioned as a chance to play.

O'Brien must be the new Browne, I can't remember him playing more than 2 games in a row without sustaining some kind of soft tissue injury.

For the most, yes, it would. Hiowever there would be a group of players on our list that would respond in a more positive manner to something a littlwe different. In particular Thornton, Murphy and Drum.
