That's a bugger even if it's only a minor injury. The biggest problem is that even though he's only 18 he stepped right up to the same level as the most senior of players, which obviously was too much for his young body.

I just want him fit and playing SANFL footy to get him ready for next year.

Bock's ankle can't be too bad as the Crows have asked the AFL permission for him to play for the Eagles on the WE.
I think his ankle is ready to go and I also think Hentschel will be ready for round 1.

Parker must have done his A/C on the weekend but to me Watts' groin injury is a bit of a concern. First it was one week now its 2 weeks. Sounds like Welshy all over again.:(

Which brings me back to my point in another thread, are we working these youngsters too hard too early??????

Which injuries have been sustained by working our youngsters too hard? Not Bock's ankle or Hentschel's calf. Perhaps some of the others though. Hopefully AFC will modify their progams where necessary. I don't think these are repeat injuries, so I don't think you can blame AFC.

Matthew Bode didn't play for Glenelg in a trail because of a groin injury. Apparently its the same injury that made him miss the Trial at Kadina. It was supposed to be a slight strain but it dodn't come along as hoped and Bode is in some doubt for round 1.

Seriously, whats with all these groin injuries. I cringe every time a player has a groin injury and takes more time than originally expected. :(

Did anyone catch tonight how Stinger is going with his injury?
No I didn't watch the news tonight. He is not listen on the injury list so one would hope everything is OK. Krueger must be of major concern. Last week he was set to miss another 4 weeks. Now he is down for another 6 weeks.:(

Yeah, Krueger re-injured his back. Hope he isn't going to be injury-prone. :(

At least the rest are short-term injuries, though you got to laugh (or cry) that M Stevens is listed to be only 3 weeks away.

Its very annoying that the "kids" who need the PS work and gametime, are sitting on the sidelines, losing fitness, confidence, and game experience.

Is M. Stevens actually training outside with the group at the moment?

Mark Stevens has been going a lot of gym work. He did have a few outside sessions but none where competative. They were those handball around in circle drills.

He starts running this week and hopefully all goes well and he can play games for us. However, I doubt he will ever play to the level he once did. I have serious doubts whether his knee can pull up OK after the game.

As big as the physical hurdle he has to overcome, the mental hurdle would be even greater:(

Very true although, Matty Robran reckons he is pretty cheery around the place. Hopefully he gets through it.

Matty's painting a slightly rosy picture on this one - which he has to of course or else Stevens will become even more negative than he is now about his future playing chances.

If Stevens himself is right - and I hope he isn't - we won't be seeing much if anything of him this year at all.

Apart from Stevens, the one thing that has really disappointed me about our pre-season has been the injuries to Bock, Krueger, Watts and Rutten which have almost wiped out any chance of them having an impact this year.

Most disappointing.

Yeah, I think Matty is spin doctoring. Mark has not had a good history of being up beat in these situations.

Yeah, the injury impact on the juniors is most disappointing, as perhaps they could have had a bigger impact than what will probably eventuate.
