Its best to give him a game or 2 in the WAFL to test the foot out fully before coming back. Plus there is no fitness like match fitness. If he played AFL and someone else gets injured then he is forced to run out a full one. Should always come through reserves after a long lay off.

Tell you what my heart skipped a beat when I looked at the AFL website and saw McGinnity was out for 6 weeks.

All I read initially was McG and out for 6 weeks and thought no way this happening we can't take a trick down back, but all is well that ends well.

Don't hurry the recovery Paddy. Want to make sure your in top top condition for the REagles :D

If you really want cruel think back to our own Brad Smith. Recruited to play full forward for us in 05/06 but done his knee twice and never got to play a game. He could have been a premiership player.

I like the fact we still employ him. Didn't he kick 100+ in the WAFL before we drafted him?

Did it 3 times iirc
did it in the 2 years prior to us drafting him and one later on. 2 years after his second recon from memory. He was a major part of the reason rookie list rules were changed for mature age players. We wanted to rookie list him but the afl wouldn't allow it at the time. Such a pity.

Good to hear that Newman is back playing this week or very soon!

Now if he can break his way into the team later in the year... wowee lookout!

Would love him at the feet of Kennedy, Darling, Naitanui and working in tandem with Hill, Lecras and Cripps - allows them all to spend more time in the midfield or as the spitter!

We're in a position at the moment where he will find it very tough to break in. Would be good for him to have an extended WAFL run in any case.

He's skilled, can get a lot of the ball, and is capable of playing forward too. What's not to get excited about when the club is willing to keep him on the list while he's in jail?
When has he showed any of those traits?
Its all based on hype, hype which I dont quite understand im afraid
