Giles is a very capable number 1 ruck until lycett and nat come back. Love for vardy to play some games as a backup and get a decent run at it.

Petrie is garbage and you all know it.
Giles is a better ruck, but I think both Vardy and Petrie are better footballers. So if we are not going to have a dominant ruck, maybe go for the better footballers, and work around not being great at the taps. Vardy as main ruck, Petrie as forward/ruck. Of course Vardy has got to hold up, given his history losing him as well is a real possibility.

Yeah I know. Is he in the rehab group at the moment?
Trained with the main group

Giles didn't join in full training but looked to be moving pretty well by his standards

Lycett news is bad.

The Naitanui news is amazing!

As early as round 15? That surely means that he should be available for finals. That's ******* massive for us next year.
I reckon it's also optimistic

Still limping noticeably and will need a lot of work to get any fitness back

Lycett also looks to have lost conditioning through his upper body. Looks leaner than I remembered

Yeah definitely optimistic.

If Naitanui could be playing WAFL by round 19/20 that would be awesome.

The media didn't know the Lycett story was coming - the ones that were there looked genuinely surprised and we're talking about amongst themselves once the presser was over

Known within inner circle - hence the selection of Petrie.

And before all and sundry say "Petrie isn't a ruckman" WC are aware of that and Giles and Vardy start off with Giles doing the bulk of the rucking. If however Vardy goes down (as is his want) then they need someone to fill a breach and that's not McGovern as that impacts backline. Its also not McIness - who I think considers himself pretty lucky to still be there.

WC looked into a number of alternate ruck options and felt none were likely to impact in 2017 and were of no use beyond that unless was English and that wasn't an option.

Yeah as soon as Simpson said Lycetts recovery was going to potentially run to mid season the Petrie decision became a lot clearer

I'm far more comfortable with the Petrie decision now than I was 48 hours ago

Edit : when you say inner circle I assume you mean inside the club and not the media.

...

Just on Fraser Bondy...Is he just marking time really or is there some sort of pathway for this bloke to progress in his career?

To the external observer something went radically wrong from the guy looking like he might have an AFL future in 2015 to just crashing and burning this year.

So glad we rolled the dice with Lycett in the QF. Along with Brown, going in virtually two men down was a masterstroke against the Bulldogs midfield. And I'm sure the knee responded well to the 110kg of weight being applied from all directions and high exertion while as loose as Paris Hiltons whacko.

English won't impact an afl game next year either, he needs to put on a lot of muscle.

Good question - no-one really knows. Certainly went backwards this season but was asked to play slightly different roles so unsure whether that was the catalyst. 2017 is a watershed year for him - probably better suited to a key position.

Surgeons in general tend to be ass-holes I've found. If they do not start out that way, they tend to become that way in the job. Smart, egotistical, opinionated, intolerant of others mistakes, demanding, it all adds up to a recipe for bullying culture.
Could not disagree more.

I'm not a Surgeon FWIW

As an ex surgeon myself , I used to do it full time , just part time now at home . I didnt notice any arse holes
You do surgeries at home?????
