He better have a kick ass 6 months when he comes back because if doesn't turn it on then he is toast. Feel kinda sorry for him really because he has been a victim of circumstance and hasn't been able to prove himself to date.
Would have liked him to have had a full preseason and an injury free season so a proper assessment could be made of his abilities

All we've seen is snippets and seemingly each time he's started to show something he gets injured

Not sure how he is able to perform at his best in such a short period of time given the seriousness of the injury he sustained. Not sure the Eagles have any more lifelines for him after this year considering they all went with LARS which was basically an ultimatum.
Club has nothing to gain from encouraging the hybrid reconstruction if they thought he wouldn't be able to show enough in the second half of the year to earn another shot. They'd have put it plain and clear that his AFL career is over if there wasn't enough time.

No doubt he has a heck of a lot of work to do to earn another year. But the club must have enough reason to think that he's capable of it.

He's been able to improve and develop his body between injury so far, at least enough to stick around.

Tunbridge will play more games than Petrie this year, you heard it first here from a completely impartial fan.

Update

Naitanui, ACL (late season / finals). Started light running.

Tunbridge, ACL (mid season).

Lycett, PCL (early season). Some marking and light training, increasing the load.

Venables, foot (?). Increasing training loads.

Duggan, hamstring strain (a few weeks maybe). Increasing his running.

Giles, ? (?). Has been missing some training.

Mitchell, rolled ankle (maybe a week).

3 months sounds bad but he could be back in early may. That's roughly still early in the season and spend a few weeks at the royals and replace Hill by round 12-15.

We've now lost Tunbridge and Rioli to long term injuries this preseason

Duggan and seemingly Giles are also struggling with less serious injuries but both have had an interrupted preseason

There's been the odd hiccup for some others but nothing that should impact their fitness come round one

Hopefully Rioli is the end of our troubles but as competitive work ramps up including JLT games that is wishful thinking
