Injury Injury thread 2017

Morning all,

Let me first preface this with the fact that I'm not a big fan of the "my mate's mate heard so and so" kind of post. Having said that, this injury has been the source of speculation already so I thought I would share. Apparently, Frankie Watson's foot injury was not sustained on the field or at training at all, but in some sort of late-night altercation/scuffle. My source on the matter wouldn't answer any follow-up questions as he copped on quickly that he probably shouldn't have said anything in the first place.

I was disappointed to hear this as I'm sure you all will be. It kind of explains a bit of the subterfuge from the eagle's website in defining the injury etc.

Not really bothered by this, a good learning curve for a young player and hopefully he comes out of it for the better

Kid in early 20's makes a mistake.

I won't lose sleep about this, when he's spoken to the media he sounds like he has his head screwed on and a slip up, if he was even at fault, isn't going to ruin it for him.

In the event he is at fault, the fact he would have been playing in the 22 if fit is more than enough punishment.

I had a gut feeling there was more to the story than what the Club was putting out, but he wouldn't be the first player to slip up and he won't be the last. As long as he learns by it, all is sweet.

People can attach whatever feelings they like to it, just passing on something I thought was interesting. I certainly wasn't thrilled to hear it but agree it's hardly the end of the world. I was more interested in the fact that the club wouldn't give a straight answer on this for quite some time and it turned out to be for good reason.

The only questions were about when we could expect him back on the field though. No one was asking questions about how he got injured in the first place.

Once again, can't speak for anyone else but I remember thinking that something was a bit fishy... maybe it was just me. Also important to remember that people have intelligent conversations about footy outside of this forum.

Yeah I know that, I'm just saying I don't think it explains why the club wasn't including him on the injury list, wasn't giving a time for his return etc.

He does have some off field baggage arising from his background apparently but I dint know specifics so it's possible the injury wasn't football related

That said, I have no issues with the club keeping quiet about what caused the injury provided he was upfront with the club when it happened and the underlying issue has been addressed

He's a young bloke that's had a hard road to get where he has and I'm fine with this being kept out of the spotlight. I don't think there's anything genuinely untoward about it - if there was it would have been reported as the media were asking questions at the time

Not going to believe it until Crumpetface breaks the story!

Basil says Rioli confirmed he'll be out for several weeks with a new hamstring injury

Cut to vision of Barich molesting Willie as he walked into the club and Rioli says it's just a strain and he'll see what the docs say after scans but he should be right

Basil you stupid ****ing eggplant. STFU
