Injury Injury thread 2017

I think he'll be back this season, I think all this talk coming out of the club about a 2018 return is to take the weight of expectation off Nic Nats shoulders.
To be fair, he was the one that put that pressure on himself though by saying he wanted to be back towards the back end of the season. I don't recall any club official putting a return date on it, I could be wrong though.

I think he was just enthusiastic about getting back as soon as possible. If the club hadn't started pouring cold water on it now every second question and news story after the bye would have been about when Nic Nat was coming back.

Agreed, I think it's the right thing to do by the club tbh. The point is he was keen and was probably optimistic, as he should be, about getting back but still he was putting unrequired pressure on himself to try and get himself back. Fingers crossed he is at least well enough to be back playing by the end of the yeast. I for one don't think he'll be anywhere near what we know he can be and we need him to be, but it's all part of the process.

Yep agree, and he probably is putting a lot of pressure on himself internally as well. It's going to be interesting to see how he comes back considering how much of his game is based on his speed and athleticism. If he does come back this year I'd be tempted to play him mostly in the forward line to begin with.

I wouldnt bother - without fierce attack and high leaping hes pretty much useless to us this year. I reckon another 6 months getting fitness and confidence in the knee and ready to go for next year

This is my leaning as well

It's completely unrealistic to think he'll have a meaningful impact straight away when he returns so unless he's absolutely ready to go I don't see why the club would take the risk

I'm the same. History shows ACLs are much more than just getting the knee healed and functional. No point risking him for what is likely to be minimal impact. Let's get him cherry ripe for 2018.

Sorry if it's been discussed but do you people think Nic nats return might be based around our ladder position come finals time? Say we make a prelim and he's fit enough. honestly scares me a bit but the bloke deserves a flag and if we get a chance this year we can't be holding back thinking next year is the year surely?

You'd hope so. It's early days but beyond Adelaide and maybe Geelong it seems like there isn't any side we shouldn't be beating. Especially if our injury list shrinks in the second half of the season.

I was few drinks in and thought it was an ACL and tears were legit running down my face.
I went to the game with my dad, who noticed that I had suddenly become very quiet. When he asked me what happened ..... I answered in a small, hollow, pained voice....
Could've been so much worse!
(I had actual tears last year when NN was injured >>. I think the tears would've come this time too, if the radio hadn't pointed out that it was a *direct blow* rather than a twist-related injury)

There you go

Fourth consecutive week Waterman has been "8 weeks", making a mockery of the whole concept of the passage of time. And of course no acknowledgment of the existence of any T.Bayok on our playing list.

At least Rioli and Lycett are apparently getting closer.

Idk if we made the 2017 gf I would be tempted to play nicnat in the forward pocket if we was cleared to play!

Even at 70% match fitness I feel like he would give us more then Giles in the side

No mention of Watson either after he missed last week with an ankle injury
How could I forget about him??

Tweeted your mate Kate to ask about Bayok (for the third time) and Watson. Odds of getting a response?

I'd rather not rush him back for one game and risk him getting re-injured /risk jeopardising his future (2018 and beyond)
Besides if we make the GF, we'd have to back the guys who took us there .....
Lycett would be back by then anyway so it would be more of a case of underdone NicNat v Vardy or Lycett
