Injury Injury thread 2017

Extremely hard, apparently.

I asked three times why Bayok was missing games. First two didn't get a response, third one they said they couldn't say. I assumed he must've been off for some personal reasons they didn't want to disclose. After he returned to action there was a blink and you miss it reference to him returning from a hammy injury in an article. Why they need to be so secretive about our 47th-most-likely-to-be-picked-in-2017 player having a standard hamstring injury I've got no idea.

The club has at least been upfront when asked about Watson having an ankle injury but hasn't given any indication how long he's likely to be out. Given that his form has been so good that people are calling for him to get a senior debut that's just infuriating.

I guess it fits with the clubs policy of not upgrading young rookies ahead of mature aged rookies "they won't be playing AFL footy, so you don't need to know when they're injured"

Your point on Franky is what's annoyed me most. I've seen countless comments from club supporters on the clubs official and unofficial Facebook pages, Instagram & Twitter about wanting to see Franky debut not knowing that he's actually injured, and not just a week or two week injury, but an ankle injury that allows him to take time of rehab at the club and go home for a while. If not for Keys and few others going to the WAFL we never would have known.

Why doesn't this club give a flying **** about it's supporters? It would have to have the worst social media in the entire league, the worst fan engagement, and at a time when the team is performing like absolute shit there is hardly anything coming out from the club. It really is like as long as they are hitting KPI's and making money nothing else matters.

It's maddening, and combined with a team song that needed to be updated when it came out in ****ing 1987 and the ****ing Eagle Rock getting played after a win FFS, it's getting easier and easier to become disenfranchised with this club.

They only care about the 60+ year old member brigade and it's a ****ing joke.

So Travis King has done enough digging to get a 4-6 week estimate on an ankle injury for Watson on the AFL website

Our injury list is shit - 13 players listed with 9 of them out for at least 4 weeks (Melbourne the only other side that comes close in that respect with 7)

Worst bit about it is all but one are of those are structural injuries...just f**king unlucky

We always have injuries. Closest we have ever got to a full list was this pre season. One moment we only had Nic Nat injuried and remember thinking "that's a first." One things predictable more so then our forwardline is we will get a shit load of injuries throughout the season, been like that last few seasons. Not sure if it's bad luck or we are just cursed.

I guess the only positive is most of our players managed to get a pre-seaon in so when they come back from injury they are not lacking a fitness base that a pre-seaon helps with.

Nelson out for me is the one that hurts because in the long term we need games into him for the long term and to be replacing players like Butler in the backline.

Cripps out sucks but he is a hard trainer and he will be back fit and firing for after the bye plus this give us a chance to be playing Karps and soon Rioli who i hope replaces Hill by years end.

Parto out is also annoying as he needs to keep building up his work in the WAFL and wont be to be far for a senior gig but luckily it is only 2 weeks.

I feel like this should have been obvious even before the injuries to Cripps and Nelson. We're making up the numbers this year.

I didn't think we'd win the flag, but thought top 4th-6th was a chance.

Ideally we'd have some kids to come in, but the injury list suggests we probably don't.

Makes me more relaxed about the season. Like, we're boned.
When I saw how most of them played in the last quarter and a half against Sydney I thought "oh good they have started to show some form and desperation". Unfortunately they went back into cruise control last week against the Hawks, which was so damn frustrating and difficult to watch as to how bad they were playing. It was left to the younger brigade - Nelson, Barrass etc - to set the example of intent. The rest should hang their heads in shame.with the exception of a couple who were still trying to lift the team (Shuey and perhaps one or two others). Wonder what team will turn up for the Derby?

Eagles have still to update their injury list on their website to include Francis Watson. If the Afl site has him on it why can't the Eagles. They really don't care about their supporters and even less for their alignment team.

The official injury list doesn't include rookies. That's just the way it is.

Somebody must have told the Afl official site that Francis Watson is out for 4-6 weeks.I want to know who as you are sacked for breaking Eagles protocol. Is the official injury list the one on the eagles website or is the official injury list the one on the official Afl web site.Who officially has the right to have the official list.Time to get Monty Python in.

You might have Keys to thank for that. He got Travis King of the AFL website to do some digging, which is why Watson appears on the afl.com.au list. Not sure how he's come up with the 4-6 weeks though.

According to the club, officially Watson is neither injured nor uninjured.

Wasn't Travis I contacted

Someone asked Simpson about Franky in yesterday's press conference and the answer was 4-6 weeks with an ankle so that's the source
