Monday was the most enjoyment I've got from footy this year. This better not be true.

I've been more interested in seeing Rioli in the back half of the year than I have investing any emotional energy in our futile "flag" pursuit. Is why I couldn't give a toss when we choked in our last two games. If its true though and its a hammy recurrence I'm sure the club will take decisive steps to remove the idiots who cleared him to play. Not

1) He'd played significant minutes 2 weeks prior in the reserves without incident
2) The strain on this occasion was in his other "good" hammy

I have concerns over our medicos/conditioning staff at times also but I don't think this is on them. Keeping in mind that we don't know the extent of the injury at this stage

Sounds like they're still waiting on scan results or a decision on what is the best course of action.

Darling almost flew back to Perth Friday morning after his wife went into premature labour but the baby was delivered before he got on the plane. Might explain his poor showing on saturday. Also if there's dramas with the baby (and she was only about 34 weeks pregnant according to Insta) then Jack might need some personal time.

Hey team. I'm not sure how much knowledge they would have but I messaged the clubs facebook/twitter page yesterday afternoon to ask for an update on Rioli given the AFL page said update coming yesterday. Got a response this morning.

"Hello Jackson, Apologies for the delay but this was due to the bye. An update should be released today. Thanks for your support!"

We can't underestimate the impact this could be having on his mindset/decision making. He's the same age as me and has to juggle a pregnant wife and top level AFL, cannot be easy.

Agreed, he would have been given the green light from Courts no doubt. But he should have come home.

I believe he would have if Kennedy hadn't been out. When the return to Perth became complicated and wasn't going to result in him getting back in time, he chose to play given the precariousness of our season and how important he would have been to the plans with JJK unavailable.

...but of course Darling is a squib, doesn't bleed for the club etc etc

Premmie bubs always have higher risks so I hope that everything goes well for the Darling family from here.

As I stated elsewhere the guy has a free pass from my perspective. Very few people would have a mindset that would allow them to perform elite sport with this kind of stuff in the background.

Rioli did a few tests with a trainer in front of where I was sitting. I'm no medical expert but to me he seemed to be moving without any noticeable difficulty

In other injury news both Allen and Waterman were out on the track joining in with the main group
