tame impala's first full length album is brilliant, the best aussie release for some time. they truly are a long way ahead of most other aussie acts

Yeah, its a great release. Not many weak songs on the album either. Think they'll garner quite a bit of attention throughout the rest of the year.

Awesome album, but I think it is let down a bit in its production. I know they are going for the whole 'dreamy' sound, but I think a little more clarity and distinction between instruments could have helped.

Seeing them tomorrow night, should be good!

EDIT: For those who saw them recently, did Nick play rhythm guitar for them? He's the lead singer in a fantastic band here in Perth called Pond, who are incredibly prolific and sort of like a funkier Tame.

Actually heard from quite a few people that they're not too shit hot live tbh.

New stuff sounds great on the album though.
i have seen them twice this year with no complaints, both times i was sitting down so i was able to fully take in all the music with no destractions.

Gets better the more I listen to it. The start of Bold Arrow of Time is wonderfully Hendrixish.
Expectations and Runway, Houses, City, Clouds the standout tracks for mine.

Will be listening tonight.

Hopefully it is of quality and based on the tracks I've heard I'm certain it will be.

Pretty good stuff... kind of like early Floyd crossed with some Krautrock.

Will see how it holds up with repeated listening, but it's one of my favourite albums atm.

So if Pitchfork like it, does that mean it's shit, or have they got something right for the first time ever?

Srsly though, I like it, good album. Jeremy's Storm is amazing.

pitchfork are usually on the money, the only big exceptions i can think of when they've totally bamboozled me was:

-thier constant hating of the mars volta
-they gave lady gaga a decent rating
-they rated medulla better than vespertine but then preceded to have vespertine in thier top albums of the decade.(for the record vespertine sh1t5 on medulla)

usually though they know music better than most

Been meaning to make a thread on this for a while.
This woman (debateable) is a musical freak. Her ability to make pop hooks is unrivalled. I don't like the music, but I can appreciate someone who is an absolute master at her craft.
Gaga haters be damned.
