He might not take the best defender, but he'll definately take the tallest. And against the Bulldogs, who don't exactly have the tallest defence, it's a great advantage to us to have height there.

I'd like to see our forward line be set up so it has White + Magic + Spida/Jolly.

Why would White take the main defender? He will only be playing his 2nd game in the AFL and from what ive heard about him in the reserves White isnt exactly the type of player who will score a bag load of goals each week.
i'm not sure why you've got that impression
he played as a target forward in a preseason game last year and kicked four
i'm not sure how often he's been used as such since, but i know he's big enough, strong enough to play that position (he rucks, for god's sake, he's not gonna come up against anything MORE physical playing as a key forward)
and i also know we cannot afford to play both davis and micky o the way they're going, and of that pair, you drop davis, it's simple
white, to me, is the man who should be groomed to erplace hall down the track
he's far more assured in his play (from what i've seen) than grundy (who i also like) and i can't see why an astute fan such as your good self would be so against the idea

In: Everitt, Mathews
Out: White, Davis

Everitt should be right now and Mathews has been playing good footy in the 2nd's so im guessing he'll get the go ahead for next week.
Agreed, but not White, Jude.

OUT: Davis, J.Bolton
IN: Everitt, Mathews

Where's Tim Schmidt at?

As soon as he's fit, either Amon or Bolton should get the boot. Probably Amon, since he's showed absolutely nothing this year.

But for this week, get rid of Davis. Bring in Spida.
Amon was responsible for the goal we got straight out of the centre late yesterday.

For everybody. We have only lost two games and drawn against a gutsy roos. It's not perfect but we could be in a worse spot. Changes are fine if warranted but we don't need to throw the baby out with the bathwater and our major problem right now is finding a solution to kicking for goal. Everett obviously needs to come to back up jolly but I doubt the other midfield players are fit enough yet to come back in.

Davis is having no impact so I'd say drop him and allow white to settle into a forward line role against the dogs.

Perhaps we should try Jolly up forward more often? Seems to do well when he goes down there..

If Everitt is fit, perhaps White and Everitt switching off the bench (in the ruck) with Jolly up forward.

Have Jolly take all the tapouts in the forward 50. Have the ruckman either stay outside 50, or run down and wait in the goalsquare.

MIX IT UP A LITTLE!

Amon was on the angry pills for some reason. I'm feeling like it transfers from player to player .. Goodes --> Amon.

I agree. It seems to work when Jolly moves up forward, though he should try to avoid leaping early and jumping on everyone's back. We need another tall forward.

Does anyone know the news on Spida's time at the ressies for the second week?

Looks interesting. Does anyone know if Playfair can play at CHF and kick afew goals or cant he really fill that sort of role. I ask because the Bulldogs have a rather short backline and having Playfair at CHF might really test their defenders.
Yeah he has played CHF for the cats in parts of 05 maybe 06. I do remember he was in good form for a while before injury, my concern is is weather hes fit enough..

I reckon I'm more concerned of the way he'll play given our recruiting record with Geelong.

Yes Geelong do have a history of screwing us over. If Playfair has a bad game i'll be going over to the Geelong boards and making sure that they know what i think about everything to do with the Geelong Football Cub :D

Im not expecting to much really, i mean its his first game for us what can you expect?
Ive read he was playing well in the VFL last year, and i reckon our recruiters would be more weary of Geelong especially after Chambers.

I have to agree with Snappy.

Has playfair played enough football recently to be match fit for a senior game. I would like to see him perform a week or two more in the seconds yet.

Sorry to burst everyones bubble concerning Henry Playfair but if we are hoping he will solve the foward line issues then we are in trouble.
He can take a good grab but he has always been a woeful kick. Would easily be the worst kick in the team if he came in.
You also have to remember that as good as Geelong were last year, their big men weren't their major strength and Playfair couldn't get a game.
Nathan Ablett and Blake weren't superstars.

I would think Spider half fit for half the time in the goalsquare and doing the forward line ruckwork would be a better option. Spider was orginally a forward and at least he will finish if he gets it. Playfair will butcher it or turn it over.

Its been quite awhile since he played a game of AFL so maybe the Swans training staff have helped improve his kicking style.
We can only hope.
Geelong had pretty high expectations of Playfair a few years ago and the way the game has progressed has meant that players who have below average foot skills need to make it in other areas. Playfair is a good contested mark but I am still not sure of his value as a forward.

Friends of mine who support Geelong were happy he was traded.
