Agree totally with your post Stiffy.

I thought Potentschel (how about Trentschel?) did really well on Lucas. I hope Trent spends the summer in the gym (along with a few others), and once he does put on some muscle he will be a fine player - but he doesn't have the muscle now so we shouldn't castrate him if he can't physically compete with guys that are five years older than him.

Carey was bloody fantastic - he probably should have kicked 8.

Stevens (S) was woeful. He had no impact - did he have a touch?

I've said it before and I'll say it again - we need a strong FB - Basset simply isn't strong enough.

For next week, I think Rutten deserves 3-4 games in a row at FF, and Reilly and Schuback should come in.

Outs - S.Stevens, and probably Bode and Gallagher. Maybe Perrie out if Rutten comes in, as McGregor could/should go back.

Well said Stiffy!
Thought Bock played his best game last night, strange, it would have be viewd differently had we won.
Our midfield (or lack of) caused our defence and offence immense problems last night. Hope Goody comes back soon, and we draft a couple of midfielders urgently.
And oh for a full back:) Could Bock do the job - didn't look too bad when on Lloyd? I will restate Bock is seriously bad below his knees, and needs to improve dramatically.
I honestly thought Bock played the best game for us last night. There were a couple of contests where Bocky was on Lloyd and he beat him which did put a bit of a smile on my face. You are right his skills velow his knees are pretty ordinary but as bad as they are they are much better than Perrie's. I reckon Bock would ake a reasonable FB but he will need to bulk up at least another 10 kg.

We need a couple of really good midfielders during drafting/trading period but we also need a classy KPP and a ruckman.

Its interesting, we say play the kids, give them the experience this year, for the future, BUT then we get stuck into them if they don't perform to "potential" immediately, and consistently.
Where's the rationale in that?
Yeah I agree with that as a whole. Before this season we would've expected sweet bugger all from Jericho, Bock and to a lesser extent Trentschel (the Stiffys of this world brought up the average ;)) - but now when all three have shown a bit here and there, a few people are getting stuck into them for last night's perceived poor performances when it was the entire team that capitulated to the Bombers in the first and then last quarter.

Strange.

Trouble with Hentschell, is irrespective of weight/muscle, he doesn't play a physical enough game - it does not appear to be in his make-up.
It maybe why the club still sees his future as a forward.

S.Stevens wasn't picked in the original side, after a good last outing. Perhaps they thought he wasn't yet ready to return to AFL. Welsh out meant they had to play him, but his performance indicated the match committees original thoughts were correct.

Lets all pray for a FB:rolleyes:

Have to agree on Perries skills below his knees. I like his commitment to footy, but his confidence is so bad, he has to go back to SANFL ASAP.

Anyone who has seen training, whats Bocks one on one skills like?

The AFC coaching staff have decimated Perrie's confidence by playing him either mainly as a defender or on the bench. If we are not going to play him as a forward, then don't play him at all. Agree that Sarge probably needs to head back to the SANFL to regain his confidence. IMO, McGregor is a better backman & Perrie is a better forward - the Tigers game have confused the coaching panel.

Yes I have to agree.
Probably saw his longterm future as a backman, but IMO he is more a third forwrd option, who is going to be competing with S. Stevens for that role.

I've come here too late after the game, much of it has already been said and I can't be stuffed reading it all but it's pretty obvious, the problem is, when under pressure, we have too many poorly skilled, dumb footballers in the team.

Agree with most here, might as well see how some of these youngsters go in the next three weeks against Coll, Hawks and the Blues. These games will decide whether we get the priority pick, so in the context of the season, they are vitally important. Should be interesting.
