Two changes this week IMO

In Davies Didak (if fit)
Out Lonie, and one of Caracella (not 100% fit), L Davis (back to usual crap form), or J Cloke (clanger king). I'd drop Blake out of those three, I think we need to see Davies again before the years out with thoughts to promotion.

We may be promoting three rookies in 2006.

Hotpie,

Did you watch the same game I did??? When J Cloke was asked to go into the ruck against the bigest man in the comp he did so with no questions asked. At stages I thought he was back to his best.

And leon showed some genuine pace around the ground for once. I had both of these players in our top dozen.

Blake was not fantastic yesterday, but is and always will be no good when the ball is not delivered into the forward line effectively.

Have to say, being at the game (which was my first in eight weeks), I got to finally see what's wrong with our team. But thats for another thread.

As for C1, his problem was that he almost NEVER made position to become the next link, and then almost every time he got the ball kicked to him, he failed to mark it. His disposals were average, but I will agree that he went into the ruck, and was vaguely competitive.

However, with Flaps 100% stuffed, and David Hale rucking against us next week, and with the following talls out:
Rogan, Stretch, Pebbs, C2, Tex.
The only ruck options are:
Flaps (204cm), C1 (189cm), C3 (195cm - also tired), Wakes (191cm)(going on yesterday!), Presti (193cm)(?).

Bottom line: We will have to keep him. He's not the worst player, but he's getting a game from necessity, not earned.

Cloke was awful. Droppped chest marks, kicked poorly, gave away blatant free kicks in front of goal. Did everything in the book that was wrong and very little that was right.

That said, his efforts were typical Jason Cloke, outstanding. And with no second ruck, and with Lonie out of the side and Maxwell dropping off in form in defence, Jason Cloke will probably keep his spot next week.

As for Leon Davis, who cares how much pace he has. He played in the midfield and got six kicks, and some of those missed the mark. Not good enough.

Re Tarrants report, nobody saw it but the umpire. So its the umpires word vs. Taz's word. So that would be four weeks!!!!

J Cloke - average game, will probably hold his place
Leon - Average game, will probably hold his place
O'Brien - reasonable game, should hold his place
Caracella - looks injured - probably be rested

Tarrant - 1 week

In Didak and maybe Richards??? - Balme said he should be right, so a run off the bench wouldn't do him any harm.
If not then maybe BJ.

And this is Leon perfectly illustrated. On his day he is exhillarating and all the Leon lovers come out to chat. But when he isnt on (ie. yesterday) which is 9 out 10, he is just plain ordinary with no impact.

That is Leon Davis.

Re: J Cloke...if all the players had the crack that he has, we would be the hardest team at it by far. Pity his skills and limited strategic footy knowledge let him down. A for effort, E for effect

It is long past mattering who plays. There is nothing at Willi to bring in. Jason Cloke is our best available ruck option FFS. What have we come to?

If this is the list Malthouse has assembled after all but 6 years and the President says he is safe then I really don't what our future holds.

Did anyone clap our brave warriors off the ground? I bloody well hope not. I didn’t stay to watch them go off. Apologies to Nathan Buckley but as soon as the siren sounded I stomped off. Disgusted with the umpires re Tarrant, disgusted with our skill level to throw another game away and disgusted with the fact that our coach is still out coach let alone will be next year let alone will most likely be after that. Why are Melbourne’s football journo’s so pathetically weak?

Please don’t exaggerate. He is never exhilarating. He’s never kicked a real bag and he’s never dominated in the midfield. Not once in 6 years. His best is serviceable and that just isn’t good enough let alone the fact his best is seen three times a year.

Leon is not good enough but he will play next week, for the rest of the year and he will be ion the list year. That is why we are third last fighting for the spoon.

He does some exhilarating things, you cant deny that. Spinning out of trouble, goaling from the boundary line...there are times he looks like he was born with a footy in his hands.

But the fact that he does it 4 times a year....yes that is the problem.

In: Davies, Hall, Didak
Out: Carrotseller, Davis, Lonie

Davies - give the kid a go for promotion?

Hall: His height!!!!!!!!!!

Carracella out because he is definately not fit

Davuis because he cannot ever be consistent

So means everyone else has to step up. We are a team and we can't always rely on our big guns. Time for Caracella, Davis, Didak, Burns and Bucks all to step up. If Hall or Davidson could bag a few before seasons end it would be great for the team and their own self confidence.

Ruzza at the time i did not no that tarrant was out..

But with tarrant out lonie to stay in then, we could aybe pull one out of our asses with davidson..

It is quite amazing to think last year he looked like a gun for that quarter he played and was in our best team but this year he cant even get a game when almost all others on the list have..

Yes i do know he is injured and has been etc. but it still gets me

davies, Yakka,

out
Lonie, tarrant

Don't see why we should be so preoccupied with having a tall forward line! The doggies dont, Hawthorn dont! Yes ideally we would like our talls in but we dont live in an ideal world and we have o make do with what we have! we arent going anywhere anyway!
Id liek to see taz played in the middle if he is not suspended anyway, he has indicated in the past that he would prefer this

hmm, strange about that, hawthorn are below us, and footscray have taken a whole season to work out how to play that way.
it is not a viable short term option for us.

hmmm.. im affraid it is a viable short term option for us! because it is the only option we have!i never said that it would be better to revert to a small forward line, all i said was that it isnt the end of the world! you gotta make do with what you have got! or maybe we can call in the CIA they usually have solutions for everything maybe they can help us out

The reason why a short forward line doesn't work for us is because our skills at pinpointing someone on the chest are not good enough.

There is no margin for error, otherwise the tall defenders will have a field day.
