Blame should also be apportioned to the charity ambassadors too, many who are brighter, and better advised than Warne, and obviously Whitten, and should be able to see these things for what they are. They must see this as some sort of gravy train to be ridden on while the goings good.

Are these Ambassadors the "stars" who play in the game that charge an appearance fee to be at the game.

its true - they are like vultures. They need hard arse corporate types as directors who will screw the events company for minimum dollar

There was a publication called something like the Good Giving Guide that showed how much goes in charity costs and overheads. Quite surprising, particularly those charities who avoided being part of it. Which begs the question, why aren't charities forced to declare all assets, income and outgoings?

We have our pet charities which we give to directly. We never respond positively to telephone calls, knocks on the door, or street or shopping centre collectors(chuggers). And rarely to the "name" brand ones like Warne, Whitten, McGrath et al.

Many years ago I contacted a quite well known charity after a person from the telemarketing company they were using was particularly aggressive. I asked why they didn't use volunteers to do their own fund raising. She claimed they made more from the 30% they got from what professionals raised than they would by doing it themselves and with no hassles. Sad state of affairs in my book. Not to mentioned poor for their public image. Needless to say that charity don't get a dollar of ours.

I'm not sure anyone has ever told you this, but s**t you write well. This is up there with your best. And if you turn around, I'll piss in your other pocket.
i was thinking of this.

I will politely decline ur offer to piss in my other pocket. I already have Andres Serrano and Christ in one pocket. But I was wondering, mebbe you can channel Wim del Voye and Cloaka and scatology in the back seat.

technically, twas piss christ. but I prefer my christ with a harem grapes and bacchanalia. I cant think of him anyother way than pissed christ, or christ pissed. it puts into context why the man was so simpatico with the marginalised and drunks in the gutter.

urine and scatology. could be a tom waits album.

Problem with Warnie is he did what nobody is meant to do, leg spin is the most difficult of cricket's mistresses, and he made it look absurdly easy. He doesn't think the normal rules apply to him.

The Shane Warne Foundation is embroiled in a fresh controversy amid allegations its chief executive officer is resigning over concerns that the promised shake-up of the charity could be misleading donors and sponsors.

Shane Warne and board member Eddie McGuire announced on Monday that the foundation was about to be overhauled following revelations about the charity's past poor donation levels after overspending on star-studded fundraising events.

Mr Warne denied its newly appointed CEO was leaving but told Fairfax Media the foundation was now trying to cut costs after it was "poorly administered by previous employees".

"The Shane Warne Foundation has always done the right thing, but in the last few years there have been some problems with financial numbers for the events we have been running. It was not done through malice or incompetence," he said. "We are cutting costs at the foundation but no decisions about jobs have been made yet."

The overhaul, which began with the appointment of a new chief executive in September, is based on a plan to move away from staging costly events such as cricket matches and gala dinners that have failed to raise the expected level of funds and led the foundation to run at steep losses recently.

Its new chief executive Emma Coleman, described as a "change management and strategy specialist", was brought in to oversee "an absolute forensic audit and examination of everything going forward", a source close to the foundation's board told Fairfax Media.

Ms Coleman was also supposed to focus on boosting revenue by raising money directly from wealthy donors and corporate sponsors keen to be associated with the cricketing legend's prominent philanthropic brand.

But Fairfax Media understands Ms Coleman has tendered her resignation as chief executive amid concerns the restructure plans announced publicly are potentially misleading.

A source close to the foundation said Ms Coleman was recently informed her employment contract would not continue past February as part of the cost-cutting.

"They've held Emma out very publicly as the person who was brought in to fix the massive administration problems from the past and to take the foundation in a new direction," the source said.

"Now they want to keep her around just long enough to sign up the new sponsors and for all the media attention to die down."

Fairfax Media understands Ms Coleman has tendered her resignation. Ms Coleman did not respond to a request for comment.

Mr Warne denied Ms Coleman had resigned or had been told her contract was ending.

"We're trying to cut costs down to next to nothing and Emma was concerned about where she stood. We're looking at all options but nothing has been decided because the board has not been able to meet yet ahead of Christmas."

The foundation did not announce the future position of CEO was in doubt at the press conference on Monday.

The foundation is now hoping to use volunteers and services donated pro-bono to manage its slimmed-down operations despite Consumer Affairs Victoria raising concerns about past irregularities in its bookkeeping and reporting practices.

The foundation is currently negotiating sponsorship and funding agreements with a number of high-profile businesses and charities that may be at risk due to concerns about its management and the negative publicity.

Among the potential deals is a fundraising arrangement worth more than $400,000 between The Shane Warne Foundation, Channel Nine and the E.J. Whitten Foundation, which hosts the AFL's "Legends Game".

Fairfax Media has previously reported the foundation passed on to registered charities an average of just 16¢ of every dollar it raised on behalf of sick and underprivileged children from 2011 to 2013. The foundation claims the figure is closer to an average of 50¢ over its 12-year history.

Shane Warne called the press conference just days after Fairfax Media filed an application to review the financial records of the foundation and a related charitable entity, the Necessitous Circumstances Fund, dating back to its establishment in 2003.

Mr Warne has said money distributed from the NCF boosts the foundation's donation rate to close to 50¢ on the dollar but the full records have never been released.

Under the state's fundraising laws, the foundation – which has refused repeated requests by Fairfax Media to provide its financial records voluntarily – now has 21 days to release all the documents or face potential investigation by the consumer watchdog for failing to comply with the disclosure rule.

At the press conference, Mr Warne announced the foundation was also cutting costs by closing the administratively expensive Necessitous Circumstances Fund.

"Our goal is to do one major fundraising event a year where we will hopefully receive a $400,000 to $500,000 cheque to give away to one children's charity. We feel that's now the best way for us to do the most good," Mr Warne said.

Last month, Fairfax Media revealed The Shane Warne Foundation tried to have its records declared confidential by the national charity regulator under a federal law that has been used to protect the safety of family violence charities. The application was dropped in the wake of negative publicity.

Warne has claimed to News Ltd the foundation had raised $8 million for charity since 2003, but since coming under scrutiny he has publicly revised the estimate down to $4 million.

The foundation is also expected to face further scrutiny when its 2014-2015 financial report is released by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission early in the New Year.

Seems more like a slush fund for parties even more! And they don't have to pay any taxes either!!

nothing compared to LiveStrong and Lance Armstrong.

They threw million dollar parties, went to strip clubs on the non-prof dime, they did platters of coke on Livestrong.

You have to feel for poor old Floyd Landis, stumbling in on Lance with two naked strippers and a pile of coke back at the Livestrong office. Big fella probably counted his lucky stars that his Mennonite upbringing had precluded him from wearing any figure hugging lycra that night, things could have got awkward.

#nobandaidsneededthatnight #glowtimevsblowtime #whitepolvotopsgrey #kirkbyanddipperalloveragain

In other news, Warnie is unperturbed by the claims: "It is their word versus ours. We like our word. We like where we stand and we like our credibility."

Considers the investigation to be an unconstitutional witch-hunt: "CA Victoria clearly needs to bring a big case against a 'big fish' to justify its existence."

Quizzed on a recent $100,000 donation to the ATO, Warne issued a statement that he was "funding the fight against fraudulent charity organizations."

He confirmed he only sought to block the release of the charity's records because he plans to periodically post full financial data on twsf.com.au in future, subjecting the foundation to the most comprehensive taxation review of any charity associated with a bogan professional athlete. Suggested to a reporter that only a grade-A choad would question his motives. "I'm sorry for you. I'm sorry you can't dream big and I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles.'"

Promises full disclosure in upcoming bio 'It's Not about the Flipper'.

I think it's time Eddie stepped back from all this.

This is Shane Warne's response to today's Age article. Pretty much sums up the whole thing. He's a twat.

This is the journalist misrepresenting the facts about The Shane Warne Foundation. Not sure if he's just trying to make a name for himself by continually attacking us & publishing incorrect facts or for some reason has a vendetta against me or a particular board member.
But we will continue to make a difference to children's lives no matter what this f#%¥\#! agenda is. We will have given away over 4 million dollars by January 2016 & have addressed cutting costs administratively last September before this muppet went on his crusade & a new strategy that was all reported correctly by the Australian & the Herald Sun this week, but for some reason the Age & Chris keep re hashing the same rubbish & incorrect facts. We are all good people trying to do good things by way of making a difference to children and their families lives & we will continue to do so. We thank everyone for their overwhelming support !
Have an awesome Christmas followers

The praise of the praiseworthy there :thumbsu:

Was clearly an opportunity gone begging there to slip in a gratuitous #mennonitesintights hashtag, though. Wouldn't have happened to Lance.

That was the difference between Lance and Ulle mit der Vitaminpulle; Armstrong the perfectionist, Ullrich with occasional glimpses of human frailty.

Preparation-wise they were like the ant and the grasshopper - with the exception of the 2003 TdF, the one that got away for Ulle...

You always got the feeling that Ullrich was at his best when expectations were at their lowest, it was basically him vs the world with no support that year.

Shane Warne is planning to shut down his personal charity as prominent sponsors withdraw their support amid concerns about mismanagement at the prominent philanthropic group.

The surprise move by the cricket legend also comes after The Shane Warne Foundation came under scrutiny last year by the consumer watchdog over "inconsistencies" in its reporting and accounting practices.
