Not sure why we would have a meltdown thread that says no scapegoats, Sylvia should never play for Freo again.

Come on E a bit of on overreaction. Sylvia had a quiet pre season and injured himself. I think he should be dropped but next pre season if he steps it up there is no reason why he can't play because at his best he's best 22.

You have to be Sylvia's boyfriend or something. He's been absolutely useless over here, there is no way around it.

Not really, I'm just sick of the attitude that many Fremantle supporters have towards recruits from other clubs. Every single one of them gets hammered. There are still people to this day scapegoating Zac Dawson and Danyle Pearce. Sylvia has been treated with utter contempt by members of this board since he arrived.

What's really strange is that they consider Ross Lyon to be omnipotent in all things, except picking Sylvia. Picking Sylvia is apparently the only thing that Ross Lyon has ever been wrong about.

When De Boer, Mayne and Suban were all playing like shit at the start of the year, the fact that Ross Lyon kept picking them was prima facie evidence that they deserved to be in the side. Sylvia wasn't even sub this week, he was starting 21, but apparently that isn't proof he deserves to be in the side because he's not "one of ours".

Then these same people wonder why we can't attract high-profile players from other clubs to come and play here. Every single person who has come from a Victorian team to play here in the last 10 years has been used as a scapegoat and whipping boy by Freo fans. You'd have to be mental to want to come to Freo under those circumstances.

I take your point about silly supporters bagging imported players (Croad is another one) but Sylvia has been bad, almost useless. I really hope he can turn it around but it doesn't look good.

Disappointed that many of our borderline players looked so poor today. Sylvia tabiner Griffen Moribito didn't show a lot although to be fair our midfield players such as Neale Crowley Pearce Suban Mandy barlow were completely outplayed outrun and out worked.we are still way too reliant on Pav and Mcpharlin is looking very poor.

Very hard not to be totally pissed off with that effort!

You should stay away from TV's :D
20 years ago... must have cracked open the pocket calculator.

You're game @wormburner76. I'd never have had the guts to try that stuff. LSD... no worries... LCD... that's some pretty nasty gear.

Weak as p1ss, with the arrogance shown at selection, we deserved the flogging.
Am I the only one that thinks it was a smart move to rest sandi if there was a fear that his soreness could turn into an injury?

Because on the evidence of last night it'd be just about season over if we lost sandi for an extended period.

Our mids have been given silver service for so long they've forgotten what to do when they don't know where it's going.

I think this loss may turn out good for the side. I still don't know wtf happened yesterday. My brain may still be defrosting from the cold at Etihad and the shock of having travelled back in time to watching Freo from the 90's.

We've had a lot of easy games recently, where we haven't played amazing, but we've still been able to win significantly. Yesterday, we played an easy side who were playing for a win for their team mate, and we didn't even turn up. There was so much bad things by Fremantle, and it wasn't until the last 10 minutes of the game did we decide to lift.

Hopefully the players take this as a kick up the backside that while we might be high up on the ladder, and pretty much guaranteed finals, that teams aren't just going to lay down and give up. We need to perform 100% every week, to stop this from happening again, and to make sure that when we DO play a hard team, that we're prepared to do it.

And on the Sandi "resting" I am 100% behind doing it. If you watch the GWS game again, he took some hard hits, and I wouldn't be surprised if he actually his sore from it. And honestly, given Griffin was such a big part of our team last season before his ACL, and he's been playing well enough for Peel, that there's no reason he shouldn't have been able to step up to be a 2nd ruck yesterday.

So you've gone to the other extreme?

I'm not actually that concerned, funny enough.

i switched the sound off before half-time. After that it was hard to really get into it.

Maybe the loss we need to have. Every top 5 team has dropped a game or two unexpectedly. It's harder then we think to go undefeated through months at a time.
Agree, part of me was not surprised, I think Ross knows exactly what he's doing , if we have to drop one game, then I 'm not surprised Ross chose st Kilda n Lenny , why else would selection panel take in so many underdone players a week out from the bye? There's a plan in place we aren't party to.

Whati'm trying to say is, selection panel are aware who needs rest, looking at our run home st Kilda probably seemed the match we could rest some players. Combine that with if Ross has to choose who he'd rather us to lose to, and the fact we can still make top two, I can see why he'd gamble on yesterday.

Sylvia, tabs, Griff and Morra haven't played a lot - less than 15 games between them this year. We need to cut them a bit more slack, there's a big jump between wafl and AFL nowadays, the national comp has lifted in quality whereas the state comp standards have not (I'm looking at you there Cam Shepherd...lift your game)

Your point about the other players performance is fair comment and I'm at a loss to explain it... Hopefully RTB can get to the bottom of it - then soundly kick the bottoms that deserve it.

If we play like crap/lose to Carlton next week, then I will be worried

More then likely we will come out strong and demolish them by 8 goals. It will then show that last night was just an off game. The players will learn from that and shouldn't let it happen again

I'm now worried about Waters and Hill having enough time to hit form when they come back

Exactly I didn't see the game thank god (at a great wedding) but as always it's the response over the next games that will tell us if it's a blip or a reason to be concerned.

Well this is F#@ing shit!
Did they do a Ballantyne and were already thinking about having a break?
My eyes cannot unsee that performance:straining:.
I tried watching the whole game but the commentary was woeful. I turned the sound off after the first quarter but the shocking display from Freos effort and the gleeful look on Eddies face nearly got the TV destroyed.
