Would be nice if Carr brought in Jay Schulz as a forwards coach. At least Port will have an ACTUAL forward coaching how to play forward and you combine that with his goal kicking. It's not a difficult formula. Not sure why Port can't seem to get the memo.

This has been going on for Donkeys years, you can even go back to the Hawks preliminary final first qtr.
Two things a port side will constantly do.

I know this quote was from early April, but my god did it stand out in the showdown.

I'm convinced it's not a disconnect, the midfielders are putting the ball in the right places, the forwards for whatever reason are just not in position. They're consistently too deep, making it near impossible to kick it to them, and end up conceding uncontested marks to defenders who have read the drop zone far better.

Ollie Lord is probably the biggest culprit, and has likely been instructed to play deep, but he needs to understand when to stay deep and when to push up the ground. Too often there is nobody between the ball carrier and him, and he needs to quickly identify that the ball carrier has no capability to run any further forward so will be hitting it long shortly. The defender spots it, but Lord does not. He's still young, and when he actually manages to get to the contest, he contests pretty well. His biggest issue is that he isn't reading the play.

That just sums up Ken Bloody Hinklers time at Port. I honestly think Ken just thinks if you get it in there enough it will work itself out based on numbers alone.

Our KPFs play from behind and our KPDs play way in front. Bizzare tactics

Is it tactics or just poor footy skills. The first thing your taught as a kid in junior footy especially as a forward is to play in front.
That should be burnt into every forwards brain by the time they even reach SANFL let alone AFL.
If it’s not poor skills it has to be laziness or unfit.
Unfit you can fix
Lazy you delist.

Georgiades is fine as he is the lead up KPF not the brute. If he had of kicked straight this season, he would have 30+ goals not 20, and be leading the Coleman medal.

Bombing it to Georgi only really works when he has the chance to run up and jump on top of a pack and take a speccy. Thats why he got a couple of frees Saturday night as crows KPDs were weary of him getting a lead up and jump.

But he isnt much good if you bomb it on top of his head or he is in a pack with no lead up to jump.

He is more a lead up CHF type than a brute play deep Dixon type.

The rest of the forward line are pretty good at kicking straight.

I tired of watching Port spend 10 minutes in their cluttered forward line kicking 3 points and then watching the opposition run down the field into open territory 2 against 1 defender and run into an open goal. I don't go to games any more its so tedious!
