Is anyone elese getting fed up with people claiming to have 'inside sources' of the footy club?

Just a few days ago I was chatting to someone who claims to have heard from an 'inside source' that Essendon is going to tank for another year (did we tank in 06?) to gain another year of top draft picks to get back on track..

They were also claiming the doggies have been tanking for years and years to get great picks and that's why they are where they are today.
I personally think it's bull******** and hope it's bull********.

Fair enough I do believe that some people on the Essendon board do have inside sources/spend enough time at the club to know such things...you know who you are

But come on...!

Usually assume it's rubbish unless it's a poster i recognise and respect.

You'd think if someone who knows someone has found out that a footy journo like Wilson or Sheahan would find out too, given they have a pretty good network of sources.

Anyone that says an AFL team is tanking for better draft picks is either ignorant,stupid or is so desperate for attention that they willing to say or do anything to make themselvs noticed. Most of these morons are easy to spot.

They all have an "insider" they know and they all refuse to back the claim with some solid evidence.

But the world would be a pretty boring place if we didn't have the nuts amongst us hey

I'm pretty sure no team starts a season with tanking in mind, it would be a waste of so much gruelling pre-season training. But certainly, by round 19, teams start tanking.

Try to understand.

I was replying to a post where a Carlton person stated that we had been tanking for years. Then according to Dasawx it's our 'Culture'.

I am not bagging your club.

I am also not accusing your club of tanking.

I sincerely doubt any club goes out thinking they will tank the season.
However, once they get a few injuries, or lose a few games, there are more incentives for finishing down the list than there are for finishing mid-ladder.
So they play kids, rest injured players and try things that, that give less of a chance to win games.

As to Footscray, there is no way they deliberately lost games, or went into a season trying to lose.
What they did do was lose key players early in the season, then develop kids.

Hawthorn are dead set Tankers, only an idiot (or a hawthorn fan) would deny that.

Im just glad they tanked before one of the weakest drafts of the modern era

6. Dowler - Also overrated in his junior years. A crippled version of Billy Morrison
14. Birchill - Been quite good at HB
18. Bailey - Perhaps the worst ruckman in the AFL
22. Muston - shown nothing, also a cripple.
38. T.Tuck - shown nothing

So, 1 player out of 6 who has shown anything in 2 years. Compare this to the Bombers who got Ryder and Dempsey who have both shown glimpses of thier exceptional talent at senior level.

Bad luck Hawks, a complete failure during the season, a complete failure at the draft table.

What a joke. 5 top 7 picks in 2 years and they still cant get it right.
