The jumped on is a fair point. For me it's overuse. It can be used humously or subtlety - but not in the hands of the only people who seem to want to use it in the last 10 years. But you're right. It's not the word's fault. It's unfunny people trying to use it to be funny and failing. Repeatedly. It's their fault. That's why I don't like it.
