Our defensive pressure is the worst in the league and has been for some time, but today took it to another level. It's just weak. I can handle skill errors to a point, but not running hard to provide an option and letting the other team take it uncontested the length of the ground time and again is just pathetic. We were a disgrace today.

Jobe Watson ----- WTF IS HE DOING THESE DAYS?? Drop the 'kid', he makes far too many mistakes.

The Fletch/Mal thing clearly didn't work, but Knights is too stubborn to change it up.

You guys have said the rest of how I feel, just totally gutted...especially when there are feral Collingwood supporters sitting behind you, rubbing it in till the very last second.

Loose Collingwood players everywhere for the entire game. Dare I say we were a rabble today.

Drop Watson? Stupid suggestion. Absolutely ridiculous.

Regarding the feral fans, I encountered the same today. I just sat back and let them get their full enjoyment. I would have done the exact same thing if the situation was reversed. Let them enjoy it for now....

I was at the game, and I felt truly gutted, and embarassed to be supporting a team which looked so weak.

I don't particularly feel in the mood to offer much post-game analysis. That's really all I've got to say. On the bright side, this game is a great example of how not to play footy, and that gives the coaching staff plenty of scope to find things to improve, if that makes any sense.

If we are still playing this by the end of round 22, I'll be fuming - but we can get better from here.

Tough decisions now need to be made.

The game plan, looked ordinary yesterday. For kids like Houili, Reimers, Ryder, Davies and co to develop, they need quality around them.

Serious question marks over Johns. He has the body size, but just does not look up to it. Is it time to cut him loose?

Slattery, Winderlich, Dyson, Laycock... Really are just depth players.

Fletcher is still your best player. Tough times are ahead, but list management in the next 2 years is crucial to this side. May have to go back to go forward.

Yet we beat you 2 weeks ago and smashed North in round 1.

Maybe you and North should a rebuild also. Heck you've been on one for 5 years.

Not denying that....

But the intensity and the skill level was not there.

When you have been beaten, it has been badly.

Geelong 99, Dogs 30, Saints 36 and Collingwood 73.

McPhee, Lloyd Michael and Fletcher are not going to get any better. They are all in there twilight.

Not much coming through. If you are reliant on blokes like Johns etc to come in and revive the team, you are badly mistaken. Essendon play an exciting brand of footy at times, but need some real quality to rebuild the list.

Do you honestly believe that this side has the making of a top 8 side? That you can really have a tilt at a flag?

Ryder, Davies, Houli, Reimers, Lovett, Hille, Welsh Nash and McVeigh. Real quality. These players must form the nucleus of the side for the next 5 years.

Watson? Is he good enough?

I am not bashing Essendon, far from it. But look at the list. It is not good. The side needs building and you haVe to go back to move forward as I stated. No point finishing 8-12. You miss out on the real quality in the draft. Knights should be looking at playing the kids now and see who will be apart of the long term future.

When you have 7 injuries to players that our in your best 22 you will get found out if you don't have the depth.

We don't have the depth and every side bar Geelong and Hawthorn don't have that depth.

Knights is playing the kids. That's why Pev and JJ are playing for Bendigo.

We have holes in our list no doubt about that. It's about finding out who can plug those holes. We are not too far off assome would suggest. Pears and Ryder look good - backline pretty much sorted. Lucas 3 more years with Gumby and Neagle to come through - forward line ok. Kids in the midfield coming through - need more grunt and defensive capabilities.

Who are the key outs?

Lucas yes, but who else?

Ryder is sensational. He will be instrumental for the Bombers for years to come.

I thought it was unfair in the pre game telecast that they singled out Ryder and Houli along with a few others as not getting enough of the footy. Very unfair.

Realistically, i think you guys are a bit off the mark. Need some real grunt in the middle.

What was with the handball till were get caught and keep doing it theory? was that a woeful attempt at Geelong stlye maybe?

Why did we chose to run the ball by legs till we got physically exhausted and then couldn't even man up? Doesn't a kick travel faster, designed to carry a ball over a distance and ultimately cut down running the thing all that way.

What was the phobia of the wings either with the ball or when the pies had it?

I understand attacking football and running through the center here! here! but attacking with turned over handballs time and time again is a bit of an OXIMORON attack wouldnt you say ?... I luv my team but that was frustrating....

PS... i had to watch this with 4 collingwood supporters, my ears are still black and blue so forgive my outburst ... I am in pain

Hopefully Hislop comes into the side this week....

He's a really tough player who tackles hard, unlike the rest of our players, guys like Watson, Stanton and Winderlich...

We really need Hislops agro, like the most of our players had in the old days of 1993 and 2000. Where it won us premierships.

slattery is pathetic
monfries is crap
watson costs us more than he benefits us
nash ____s up as much as anyone
rama is past it
winders is being played out of position
cj is a forward
fletch is a defender
lloyd is a full forward from the square
dyson should not be used as a tagger. when he gets the ball things happen
Maybe you should coach if you think you can solve all our problems. Look to the future you flog.

Seems to me opposition supporters have been won over by Knights - maybe we are more objective?
He went for the win - playing Fletcher up forward (to surprise Collingwood) and not knee-jerk reacting to Malthhouse's surprises such as Pendlebury CHF. It was working for a while but how can you blame Knights for the atrocious handball to Collingwood players (how many times did Stanton do that!), Lovett not giving a yelp when so badly needed with other vital little men out, .... You have lost Lucas for heaven's sake, Geelong might be able to cover the loss of Mooney but no other team can cover such a monumental injury. The absence of McVeigh was huge today as it is hard for Lloyd to lead from FF and Mc is the only one who seems to have stepped up to cover the loss of Hirdy's leadership. If Hille couldn't make his presence felt against their flaky ruck pair when will he? (Mind you his sidekick needs a foot up his a---)
Some of your guys wearing small numbers on their back looked very ordinary today.
Agree. Good post, you didn't go over the top when you could've. :thumbsu:
