That's the point, really, there needs to be a simple gradation of penalties - a fine for technical ones up to the current for ones where the 19th man involves himself or interferes with play.

It was such a relief to be there at the game and watch it BT free. Watching the replay should have been enjoyable, but BT did more damage than Kelli Underwood could possibly have.

Surely we should be pushing the AFL to withdraw the goal that was given to Hawthorn. Absolute disgrace that the kick was gifted in such a way anyway, let alone via an AFL directive on an admitted error.
As OP said, that 6 points could easily be % costing by season end, and it was an AFL error.

Wasn't there a similar precedent in a Freo-Saints game when a score was withdrawn after the game when the siren wasn't heard? That decision reversed the result of the game.

It's up to the AFL to reverse their error by taking that goal off Hawthorn. We win by 16 points.

And bleeding Clarko claiming when that Corey incident occurred, it was costly because Geelong was able to man up and stop their momentum??? Exasperating.

Completely agree with you. In fairness to the ump counting up to 3 players is a pretty sizeable task!!!! Just when the umps were getting us back on side with less free kicks being paid and a more common sense approach to decision making they pull out this ripper plus the kelly deliberate OOB. As someone said earlier the really poor look was the umpirer smiling on the bench when they flashed to him. He wont be smiling this week when he is banished to cutting oranges for the under 18 TAC umpires.

I dont want to get too worked up here. Did anyone see the vision on 360 last night. This Umpire should NEVER be allowed in the system again. And this is the problem with umpires in general. In the vision it looks like we have made an infringement because Harry Taylor thought he was in the wrong (hard to explain unless you see the footage) and the third umpire sees this and jumps up, quick as a flash. Prob thinking oh look this is my time to shine. This is not about you champ! Then without TURNING AROUND AND COUNTING HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ON THE BENCH he pretty much falls over himself trying to get the flag out as quick as possible. One job. TURN AROUND!

Loved it when Gerard Whatley got worked up over this because he is a very calm and collected individual but this was very black and white. He should be banished until he realises that people dont want to know/hear about the umpires. You dont play elite sport, people do not come to the football to see you, you are there to just uphold the rules correctly.
