Shocking draw for Safari, would need an amazing performance to win from there. If Smoken Up leads as expected (BAF a small chance to cross) Divisive should be the horse to beat (opened $5). BAF will have to go forward early, Robin Hood will give Safari a trail forward very early in the race to get the 1-1 behind him. BAF will probably be out 3 wide from the 1000 or so, not sure he can win doing that.

Tipping an upset Divisive to beat Diamonds and Furs, Report For Duty 3rd.

it will hand up to smoken up who will not hand up to anyone at any cost. I'll guarantee this as even last week he was outsprinted and was coming back on the line.

he will lead and run along. BAF will death and be happy to do so. safari is no chance now. every time he has been forced 3 wide against these he has run only OK. Natalie will never let him around.

I will add to this a horse like penny Veejay is now no chance in hell to even place. at best it's 4 back the fence or if lucky 3 back the 1 line. it can't come 3 wide and win and when Safari goes 3 wide something else will get it's back 1st.

I have a small feeling BAF will fly the gate and cross, with Divisive sitting on his back. But if as expected that doesnt happen and Natalie chooses to hold the death seat, B Gath and Safari arent just going to sit there 3 wide, he will draw the whip and something will have to give and the field will break up. The first quarter of the Hunter Cup was 28.7, if Safari is stuck 3 wide they will have to run it in 28 to hold him there.

there will be one little diff between Hunter cup and Interdom final.

no 30m to get safari in front of BAF by 20m early and no hand up horse in the death.

I'm not saing he wont do it but even if he does Safari won't win no matter what on saturday.

I'll add my two cents worth.
I think Rixon will hand up to Smoken Up because he is probably sensible enough not to waste his horses energy and know that Lance is mad and will want the lead at all costs.
BAF will push forward to the death at least, Lance didn't hand up to Safari in Hunter Cup but then didnt push BAF in the FFA on qualifying night. I really think Lance holds the key to this race, if he hands up Blackie definately wins but if he doesnt hand up it just makes it a bit harder for Blacky.
If Lance holds up that will also push Report For Duty 4 back the pegs unless Alford lets him but dont think that will be happening. Penny will probably lost about 5lengths, unfortanately he is a sit sprinter.
I suppose there is going to be 3key events in the race. Whether Divisive leads or if Smoken Up does... If Smoken Up hands up to BAF and then what Robin Hood does, gives Safari a cart up or goes up and attacks BAF and co.

I'll be back later in the week to do a runner by runner preview!

Not that I'll be backing it but will Karlsrhue get some luck this week? Honestly how many times has the horse been a hard luck story in the past 4-6 weeks.

Blackie for me.

There's no doubt in my mind that smoken up will lead. Reckon Gath will get Safari into the death pretty quickly, but I can't see it winning. Natalie will just sit back quietly and let them go beserk, and then swamp them. Divisive up in the sprint lane for second.

Third is anyone's guess.

Anyone else going to MV for this?
I can't wait should be a good night, good to go and see it now because it'll be a while before it's back in Melb.

Hopefully BAF can make it three in a row, will be an amazing achievement.

Silly silly comment he can win doing it any way it likes.
Everyone said he couldn't win the Hunter Cup from a 30 m handicap and look what he done to them.

For mine the Hunter Cup is a tougher race for a horse to win off a 30 m handicap than a ID final.

He is a freak of nature this horse and i think he just wins again.
Will just camp off em and swamp em in the straight

Just got back from the Valley, wow what a night.
To see that champion win three in a row was pretty amazing, there wasn't much doubt who the crowd wanted to win, BAF got a massive cheer after the race.

What a champion.

I've watched plenty of races at MV over the years, but rarely do you get an atmopshere like that, especially as the crowd began to lift at the top of the straight. Forget sitting in TABs or watching Sky at home, get to the track folks, it's stuff you'll remember forever.

Great horse won the race, pretty handy one ran second and was arguably unlucky coming from 3 back the fence at the top of the lane.

Huge crowd, definately above expectations I would think given there were queues for everything all night - totes, food, ATMs, bars.

We are watching one of the all time greats.
Best I've ever seen and the only horse in the land who I think has a chance of beating him is having a throat operation so i think Blackie will continue to dominate for some time yet.

The scary thing for other trainers out there tonight is just how easily Black A Fake was able to take a grip on that race then dominate it.
Normally if a horse has to work hard like that (3 wide early) you know he will tire in the straight but not this one. He can sustain a run like no one else. He'll wear you down to you have nothing left.
Doesn't win by much but the early work he does kills the others as well.

Awesome nights racing, BAF simply too good. Thought Safari, Divisive and Karlsruhe were all extremely good runs as well.

He is an all time great and definetly the best in the land. However he is beatable, Divisive is improving all the time and will come back a much stronger horse next season, they should have some great races. Also Safari is close to unbeatable when he draws to lead, next seasons grand circuit should be awesome.

Huh?

Safari is a tougher horse than BAF.

BAF has had all the favours in the Hunter Cup then got the barrier draw in the Inter final.

On the flip side Safari has had to work his ab****e guts out in both major races and finished close up 4th in both races.

There's not a horse in the land that could finish so close up(even BAF) after absolute gut busting runs in elite fields like Safari has.

Reverse the inter draw and BAF doesn't get near Safari.

LOL that is the funniest post ever. thanks for the laugh.

imagine those handicappers thinking we will be doing BAF a favour by giving him a 30m handicap.

Safari and it's team suffer from little man syndrome.

Favours = getting a nice trail into the race/good barrier draws

As for the 30m, it's alot safer starting from there than say the 10m mark, **** me you get clearer running room early on and far less chance of a horse dropping back into your lap espeically over a longer race.

Harness is always about the luck of the draw and in the running, BAF has had the better of it this season.

If they had a match race between the 2 horses Safari would win :thumbsu:
