Interesting 2017 Stats

Hi all, not sure this will grow legs but I will have a go. Was thinking VAFA lookalikes but thought some may find that a bit creepy searching through Facebook pics an all...

So here is my interesting stat..

MHSOB in D2 with a % of 99 but a W/L of 1-5. Bizaare!

Round 2 lost 4.16 to 7.7
Round 3 lost 10.15 to 11.10
Round 4 lost 6.9 to 6.10

Ouch!

Have had more shots at goal than opposition in first 6 rounds.

You be the judge...interesting?

Does seem a bit crazy arsed. Just hope you're not suggesting they had more scoring shots in the 6.10 to 6.9 loss? Just saying...

No, just overall. When totalled. So been a little wasteful in front of goals.

Easy! It is an odd stat. A better team than numbers state, or just smashed a rank opponent?

Thanks Chazz. I thought the VAFA would throw up some great stats for us all this year to delve into.

Not just 2017 stats, but in the spirit of random stats that may be of interest on a Friday arvo, using the database of Brunswick NOBSPC (North Old Boys back in the day) info which is 54 years worth;

Players Used
History has shown a correlation between players used and ladder position.
GF Years - Median Number of Players Used is 37
Finals Year - 38
Mid-Table Years - 41
Relegation Years - 42

Bogey Teams
12 times we've played Old Ivanhoe, & we've never beaten them (5 of those times we've had same or more scoring shots...bad kicking = bad football)

Kicking Accuracy
Given rushed behinds etc this is a very simplistic & flawed comparison I know, but for arguments sake;
- In approx. 10% of our wins, we've had less scoring shots than our opposition
- In approx. 16% of our losses, we've had more scoring shots than our opposition.

So our kicking for goal has cost us more games than it's won.

Brilliant. That's what I'm talking about. I'd love to see some stats on other clubs. Plus I always enjoy the posts that show how many players have been used by each club this year in a certain division.
