Clinton Jones' Bump. One of the most courageous, hard things you'd see. Pulled his skin off of his skull. That moment was when fans began to love the guy.

The magnificent Bill Stephenson. He could arguably have been the greatest Full Forward to have ever put on the Saints jumper (yep, I know exactly what I'm saying, and I'm still saying it). Tragically, just as he was being truly unleashed on the comp, he was cut down by a serious knee injury - tragically, because it's probably the kind of injury that would be entirely treatable these days.

Bill_Stephenson(b).jpg
Bill Mohr had a pretty amazing record as well. Our first player to kick 100 goals.

bill-mohr.jpg

And not forgetting Dave McNamara another big fwd who had a kick measured over 85mts.
Showing his big kicking action below

I think Trev song the old Johnny Nash song 'I can see clearly now'

The mad euphoria of 60,000 fans after we won the Ansett Cup in '96.

I loved that day so much. I reckon 20,000 were turned away at the gates. Luckily my dad and I had turned up as the gates opened at 5pm (or whatever) and left again for me to go play in a bball final. Came back 10 minutes before the start and went straight past the crowds queuing for tickets and in (it was just paper tickets then - no reserved seating).

I recall 100s of sainter kids crying in the queue when they realised they could not get in. Was sad.

Shows how Huge our latent supporter base is...

you will struggle to find a player who gave more emotion and pride when wearing his Saints jumper than Max Hudghton. Heres some great pics of Maxy.

max1.jpg

Who can forget the raw emotion he showed after a heartbreaking last min loss to the Dogs.
The image of Max squirting his face with the drink bottle to try to hide his tears was hard to take.

max3.jpg

The other extreme of emotion as Max the backman celebrates a rare goal.

Athletic and fearless.

Another heart n soul player. Spud running out for his final game at Whitten oval. We had a great win that day.

Rossy receiving a frosty return to his old stomping ground.

Buckets and Spud are taking the saying " lets go out there and kill em" a little too seriously.

The wonderful image of the Doc late in his life still proudly wearing a Saints jumper.
Loved spuds last game. Remember when he ran down the middle of the ground in the last quarter, took a few bounces and as he steadied himself to shoot for goal the crowd roared in anticipation as he leaned back, tripped and kicked the ball sideways? But hilarity ensued as we'd already had the game down up.

Amazing that a club can produce back to back to back brownlow medallists twice. Even more so when you take into account the '57-'59 were 3 different players, notwithstanding Howell was given one retrospectively.

This says 3 things to me:

1) jeez we have had some talent through our doors

2) we should have many more than just the single cup in our case which meant we were a little too top heavy and too reliant on too few
and

3) right now we have a much more even spread of talent across our entire list than ever before which will hold us in good stead for our next tilt

I just picked that yr cos there seemed to be quite a few pics to be found online from that yr.
we had the white sleeves back then and the big crest. looks pretty good i reckon :thumbsu:
For the record it was a good year for the Mighty Saints. Just missed out on the finals by 1 game. Finishing 5th back when it was a Top 4 finals system.

Doug Bourne - clever wingman is a spitting image of Collingwood's not so clever forward pocket Jarryd Blair
