In the USA, gay marriage is legal in 6 states. Having sex with a horse is legal in 23.

No homo, but that's appalling

More US states allow cousins to marry (23 as well) then gays.

The number of the Beast (Devil's number) is in fact 616 not 666.

The transport authority in Moscow changed the 666 bus route because it's seen as the Devil's number. Guess what number they changed it to?

Geography!

The part of the US mainland closest to Africa is Maine.
When you travel from West to East through the Panama canal, you finish up in the Pacific.
When you travel from Wellington harbor (NZ North Island) to Picton harbor (NZ South Island), you can actually wind up further North than where you started (depending on which berth the ship uses - the quays are on identical latitudes).
The peak of Mt Chimborazo is the closest part of the Earth to the moon, and the point on the surface farthest from the exact centre of the earth.
Well over half of Africa's landmass is in the Northern hemisphere.
Adelaide is the Australian capital with the lowest rainfall. Hobart rates No 2.

Other unusual place names:

In Uruguay there is a city named Sauce.
In Sweden there is a village named A.

The first person to portray Hawkeye Pierce was Donald Sutherland in the movie version of M*A*S*H in 1970. As many would know, the popularity of the movie was what led to the well known TV series being produced.

The first person to portray Homer Simpson was also Donald Sutherland. This was his character's name in the 1975 movie "The Day of the Locust".

Very good.

Antartica is not only the coldest continent on Earth, it's also the highest - and the driest.
The closest living relative to whales is the hippopotamus.

Thats an interesting one, wouldn't have picked that. Part of Russia and Alaska apparently.

Presumably it was all one land mass thousands of years ago.

The closest point is in the Diomede islands - Big Diomede is Russian and Little Diomede is Usanian. About 4 ks.

The mainlands are about 90 Ks apart. In winter you can walk it - sometimes. It doesn't freeeze solid, because of currents, but if lucky, you can jump between ice floes, islands etc. It's been done.

"In Ocean City NY, it is illegal for men to go topless, but it is legal for women."

For many years, there was a sign beside the First tee at Waverley Public Golf Course:
'Male Players Are Requested Not To Remove Their Shirts While Playing'. I think we made every possible joke every single time we teed off (we were very young).
