I was going through some old threads and a user named weaver posted a phantom draft or 2003 with the following :

23. Ricky Dyson - Brisbane

Oozes potential but I have never seen him play 2 good quaters let alone 4. Has all the measurables and looks awesome on the test results, but just doesn't deliver often enough come Saturday afternoon.

40. Brent Stanton - Kangaroos

Winger/flanker who is classy but rarely gets enough of it to really excite. Sometimes in the AFL class is enough and a team can be built to get the ball to the finishers. Stanton might get a shot.

The one about Dyson seems spot on but Stanton not getting it enough? Also mentions that he's a finisher but a lot of folks don't rate his disposal - I do by the way.

Found that quite interesting.

He was considering a good kick at Under 18 level.

IMO in his first couple of years he made the wrong decision rather than skill errors. A lot of the time he'd run too far and kick under pressure. He's improved that, he needs to kick more goals though.

Remember that first kick for goal he had vs Port ? I was horrified. I still don't like his short kicking but when he kicks through it he's quite good now.

Dyson was a bigger ball winner than stants at TAC cup level. Just proves that players can adapt and improve at higher levels. Its up to Ricky now to "raise the bar".

Just a little bit off topic i had my annual $1 bet on Ricky to win the brownlow. If he wins im buying a house at Jan Jac and spending the remaining dosh on drinks for all big footy bomber fans. To say the odds were long is an understatement...they must not rate him as highly as my goodself.

Dyson and Stanton will be very good when they get more confidence.

Go Ricky Go Ricky!!!

The Dyson one is spot on, and is still valid today which is something ricky needs to work on.

While we're talking about the phantom draft of 2003:

Jay Nash

Silky smooth and skilled HBF who plays with his eyes up and brings the ball out of defence well.

;)
