It’s urban legend that when hawthorn woke up to itself, it used Collingwood in the fifties as the club to emulate. Not sure if that was part of th reason for adopting striped guernseys.

anyway hawks become quite successful and apparently Collingwood in the eighties asked what the secret was

puzzled hawks administrators said “what, we modelled on you?”

Does Clarkson count if he never played in a premiership? Pagan similar.

Otherwise need to include Walls/Barassi => Roos, Walls => C.Scott and Minogue => Hughson.

Bentley => Dyer (1943)
McHale => Kyne (1953, 58)
Bisset => Diggins (1938)

The "Elephant" in the room.
AFL Club
Western Bulldogs
AFL Top Eights (In various skills, totals only plus games played)

Kicks:
1- Geelong: Tom Stewart 473 from 25 Games Played.
2- West Coast: Andrew Gaff 437 from 22 Games Played.
3- Brisbane: Daniel Rich 432 from 24 Games Played.
4- Sydney: Jake Lloyd 431 from 22 Games Played.
5- GWS Giants: Tim Taranto 430 from 26 Games Played.
6- Fremantle: Brad Hill 392 from 22 Games Played.
7- Richmond: Dion Prestia 386 from 25 Games Played.
8- Collingwood: Tom Phillips 372 from 24 Games Played.

Handballs:
1- Collingwood: Adam Treloar 454 from 24 Games Played.
2- Brisbane: Lachie Neale 441 from 24 Games Played.
3- Western Bulldogs: Jackson Macrae 427 from 23 Games Played.
4- Melbourne: Clayton Oliver 413 from 22 Games Played.
5- North Melbourne: Ben Cunnington 397 from 22 Games Played.
6- Adelaide: Matt Crouch 350 from 19 Games Played.
7- Carlton: Patrick Cripps 350 from 20 Games Played.
8- Port Adelaide: Travis Boak 331 from 21 Games Played.

Marks:
1- West Coast: Brad Sheppard 188 from 24 Games Played.
2- Geelong: Tom Stewart 185 from 25 Games Played.
3- GWS Giants: Nick Haynes 181 from 23 Games Played.
4- Hawthorn: Ricky Henderson 159 from 22 Games Played.
5- Richmond: Nick Vlastuin 156 from 24 Games Played.
6- Essendon: Michael Hurley 151 from 19 Games Played.
7- Western Bulldogs: Lachie Hunter 150 from 23 Games Played.
8- Collingwood: Jack Crisp 148 from 24 Games Played.

So obviously we are only dealing with the number one ranked player from each club and
only dealing with totals and not averages which can benefit the teams that play more
games. I would have typed out the full eighteen, but I hate typing. As Tom Stewart
from Geelong appears on two lists he must be the winner and best player in the AFL.

Yes, it is very poorly created table given so many holes in it.
I swear Jack Worrall was the first ever recognised coach as he is seen as the coach of 1906,07 and 08 premiership teams.
He was first one to be seen as a coach and created the tradition of clubs getting one after this.

I got some trivia related to Clarkson.
Four time premiership player Wayne Johnston probably first premiership player that got suspended for whacking someone else whilst he already suspended.
Johnston was already under suspension from hitting Dipper in 1987 grand final. He was allowed to play in exhibition game in London at the Oval where he smashed Clarkson straight after seeing Clarkson king hit Ian Aitken. So Johnston then got more weeks. cannot remember how many weeks in total but he would have missed quite a few of the early rounds of 1988 season. Do not think anyone else played under suspension in another game and then got another suspension. All Clarkson's fault...

Very few of those mentioned in the representative (bushfire) game lists by BF posters

Yet another slow boat to greatness that does not tell us much at all, now if I showed the top ranked
players from the bottom ten teams this could truly illustrate the vast expanses between the AFL
have and have nots. I don't want to talk up Tom Stewart, but yet again his name appears on two
of the lists indicating greatness even though he did play 25 Games.
