Internal Improvement in 2018

Dickson probably 1 year left. Surely jump on him immediately as a goal kicking coach.

nah, when asked,he says 'I dunno, I kinda just relax and try to kick it straight' or words to that effect. Basically Ive only seen him get the yips once against the hawks in the finals, which seemed to be a nervous game for both sides.

Anyway, not sure he would be a great coach, despite being a great set shot,

Surely we can expect more from McClean, Williams, Dale, Dunkley, Daniel, Boyd and Bont?

These are all talented young players with their peaks still ahead of them, physically and mentally coming to grips with the demands of the AFL.

Yes of course the Bont is included - still has strength, endurance and experience to add to his game.

Controversial call and I do love him, but.... Beveridge

Ultimately he is still only a 3rd year coach. I have no doubt he still has plenty of improvement and development left.

Feel he tried to be a little too clever last year.
Was going to say the same thing. Bevo not to be overly smart in his coaching. Also, I would like improvement in the following areas:
1. all the coaches. this past season lacked much improvement.
2. a goal kicking coach. our kicking has been dismal.
3. consistency and improvements in the whole list, especially smith, libba, boyd.
4. no injuries, please, please, please.

Libba
Boyd
Bont in that order.

Libba - speaks for itself
Boyd - if he can play at 80% of his grand final performance we’ll have a top 3 Rick who can kick goals
Bont - if he improves goal kicking we could be looking at 45 goals from a midfielder

I don't think we will be going back up the ladder considering the amount of quality and experience we have lost from the list this offseason, but I am looking for strong improvement from a lot of our younger guys that seemed to flatline last season. I still think we need fresh personnel in the assistant coaching positions aswell to achieve that.

Beveridge can be as clever as he likes, he just has to be more prepared to give it up when he's wrong or when the players can't pull it off.

Look at the first Brisbane game. We pressed really high and generated that many turnovers. If we had the skill by foot of the great Hawthorn side he shaped, we'd have been 100 points up at half time.

Instead we butchered it and we were smashed on the counter. He adjusted for the second half but any more than the six goal margin it was and we might've been cooked.

He's arguably our club's greatest asset, and I'll forgive him almost anything after 2016. That said, he can be better if he is a little bit less stubborn.

We have had the same assistant coaches for yonks, time for some new blood to come in. Not a full clean out just at least one or two.

If we are to see a premiership in 2018 - massive seasons from the Bont and Libber will get us close.

When these two fire - shit happens -
One isn't enough against the better teams. Bont has been thereabouts and is pretty consistent but Libber is the one we need back at near his best in 2018

Let's be honest Libber in 2016 was back from a knee and running around 80% and was great

2017 he was a space cadet who only occasionally showed glimpses of his best.

All things being equal - if he comes out swinging in 2018 - look out - anything is possible.

yeah, remember the first 3 games where tapping the ball was in fashion?

To me Libba back in the form of last year will be the key. Him at his best lifts our midfield to the equal of the very best. Hopefully the natural improvement in other players will help match the same in other clubs but the quantum leap comes from Libba.

Is the swallow in this analogy a premiership? Because it sure made my summer.
a pigeon flew into my house today. it was trying to get out by flying into the window. i caught and let it fly out into the skies. I felt like a super hero. I am a legend in my own imagination.
