Australia don't get represented as Australia, but in past World cups, yes they have happened, teams from the Northern Territory have competed. Last year a series was played during the Arafura Games in Darwin and Japan won I think, or was it PNG, the Northern Territory team finished near last.

Yeah, i heard about something like that last year.

But an australian side should be allowed to compete, maybe an amateur side or an under 18 side or something.

I also heard that a rival ruling body -australian football world something something - wants to overthrow the AFL as the controlling body of Australian footy. They say as they represent the world they should have more power, funny thing is they have less money then the wagga wagga reserves.

I read the website. It's only a suggestion by one person, it's not going to happen. (An International Rules World Cup.)

The IAFC (International Australian Football Council) initially set up the (Australian Football) 2002 World Cup. At no stage, did the IAFC want to take over the running of the game, only help expand the game overseas. At the IAFC's AGM in May, the AFL want to dispand the IAFC and form AFL International. Therefore, the AFL would take over the running of the World Cup. Under the draft rules, they want to name it the AFL International Cup, playing at grounds around Melbourne.

What i wrote bob was what i read sometime last year. I read that they were in dispute with the AFL because they wanted them to pay "membership" fees, which the AFL obviously refused.

By taking over i meant that they wanted to take the Australian footy rights from the AFL and be the official "owners" of aussie rules. Sorry if it didn't sound like that.

What i am saying may just be a load of crap, but this is what i had read, and therefore it would be the article's authors fault not mine. Somehow bob, i think that you are probably right.
