An article by Alister Nicolson ABC says Chris Fagan has called this season the magical mystery tour, uses the term in the article headline and then uses the term himself in the article.

I’m going to keep an eye out to see if it catches on league wide.

Two Victorian clubs have made inquiries on Brisbane Lions star Charlie Cameron, with the forward prepared to leave if he can’t agree on a new extension.

A well-placed trade source has told 7NEWS.com.au Carlton have made a big indicative offer, a separate source indicating North Melbourne are also interested.

It’s understood a third Victorian club also made informal inquiries with Cameron’s management this weekend.

Officially, Carlton will indicate they haven’t talked about Cameron. But two trade sources indicate they are positioning themselves if Cameron can’t finalise an acceptable extension with Brisbane.

Cameron’s contract expires at Brisbane at the end of 2021.

But in a surprise development, 7NEWS.com.au understands the star forward is prepared to request a trade to Victoria - this year - if the 25-year-old can’t reach the right deal.

The Lions and Cameron’s managers Colin Young and Andrew McDougall are at a bit of an impasse.

It’s not clear why, a source suggesting the pair are pushing for a better deal as part of a negotiations surrounding an extension.

Cameron left Adelaide at the end of 2017, with Brisbane paying what Crows football director Mark Ricciuto described last week as a “very, very good contract”.

Trade sources say it’s about $700,000 per season.

Cameron’s stocks are sky high, once again proving his value as he led the Lions to a win over Adelaide this weekend and took a mark of the year contender.

A prominent list expert told 7NEWS.com.au Cameron is currently the best small forward in the game.

There is a major chance Cameron will re-sign with the Lions.

The club is again a premiership contender this season, highly regarded CEO Greg Swann and coach Chris Fagan overseeing a complete turnaround.

Swann led negotiations to poach Cameron from Adelaide after the Crows played in the 2017 grand final, and it’s highly likely he’ll put together an acceptable deal.

But the situation highlights that while the AFL has a contract freeze, behind the scenes trade discussions are heating up.

That'd be right, we get some momentum and they start circling.
