He's definitely not there yet strength wise & may not be for another season. I guess it's skill and tank that have the watchers excited. He's the 'fifth midfielder' like Dean Cox, and has the potential to be his equal.
It's all about finding that sweet spot that allows him to keep his tank and abilities below his knees and be at a weight/strength that he can compete physically.

To paraphrase the recently unemployed Flava Flav - "Don't believe the (pre-season) hype."

English was good, but hardly dominant during a practice game that was near on impossible to draw any real conclusions from given its format. I dont see English playing forward happening for any more than brief periods for a while yet. He still relies on either getting a size mis-match or a direct run at the ball in contested marking situations. He will have many more opportunities through the middle of the ground to do this then he will playing forward where he will be matched against an opponent who understands the physical side of a defenders craft.

He clearly come a long way with his physicality, but still has at least half a season or more to go before he can truly compete with the games rucking elites. Let alone as a forward.

Patience will still be required watching Tim English's progress.
