Just got back from the game was a bit scrappy but a few points I noticed.

-Pavlich absoloute domination would of kicked 6 goals and didnt seem to be trying that hard...easily best on ground.
-David Mundy didnt get a heap of it but when he did was outstanding used it very well.
-James Walker looked good and carried the ball well.
-Dean Solomon gave some good hits out especially to Des Headland (which was good to see because he is as weak as they come.) and also got alot of football.
-Andrew Browne ran hard but made some poor decisions overall was good though.
-Ibbotson was impressive with what he did seemed very composed and moved well.
-Sandilands needed some more competition but was given none didnt lose a tap.

I thought Macca and Cookie played well and really showed they deserved there spot.

Dodd made some big errors with his kicking, but looked ok.

Spud did very welll, saw him in the back line a few times, not sure why though!

Big Pav was impressive, didn't look like he was going full pace, but always was around the place. i'll post more as I remember it.

Hase??? Carr josh variety

I sat in the pockets to watch the forwards/backs.. so not to sure how hase and j.carr went.

I know hase missed a goal from the same spot as his derby winning one last year :)

oh and Sandi kicked a ripper of a goal that had the crowd cheering. I recon sandi will dominate this year, he won taps because of a lack of competition, but his around the ground ball work has improved too.

thanks reveler :thumbsu:
so you would have taken notice of haddrill?
and what about johnson too?? havent heard much of him.

Thought Browne was close to BoG.
Pav was outstanding - his kick into space for Sandi to run onto in the forward 50 (which 211 then ran another 10m before slamming it home!) was a joy to behold. Seemed to pop up everywhere.
Sandi was excellent, but didn't have much opposition, particularly in the second half, but he covered a lot of ground and took a couple of good grabs in the forward 50.
Was very impressed with Kiwi Campbell. We have a player there.
Hase was very good, but saw him with that familiar grimace about 5 minutes out from half time, and then saw him call to the bench to come off. He was shaking his head as he sat down, and then didn't play after half time. Hope there was nothing in it.
Joch Carr - good.
Matt Carr - good.
Des - pretty good.
Duffield - played forward and looked pretty good.
Solly was nothing special IMO.
Dunn got a bit of it, but is slow to get rid of it. Has a fair way to go to get up to standard IMO.
Drum - didn't notice him much in the first half, but looked good across half forward in the second half.
Macca - seems to still be playing with that urgency from 2006.
Cook - threw himself around and threw others around as well.
Dodd - good.
Johnno - didn't stand out.
Murph - quiet.
Dodd - good.
Mundy - very good.
Roger - good.
Peake - backs himself big time. Got into trouble a couple of times, but for the most part just used his speed to burn others off.

Will post more as it comes to mind. :)

Oh and Tenzai Mugumbo would have scored a Brownlow vote behind Pav and Browne IMO. Great talent!

also thought justin longmuir did some good things that guy really must frustrate you freo supporters as hes got the attributes and looks real good but doesnt look like hes trying or something.

thanks reveler :thumbsu:

didn't think Johnno did anything special, same with hadrill..

but with hadrill normall when you don't see him its because he is doing his job so well :)

There's a surprise! Haggers reckons that it is a scrappy game and no where near up to the standard of the Eagles intraclub.

Because its true.

There was a marked difference between both games.

The Freo game was very scrappy and stale. Probably why alot of people left at half time and then alot more left at 3 quarter time.

Disapointing your younger guys didnt play. I was impressed with Ibbotson, did some nice things not a whole not but enough.

Sandi was rucking against a 196cm colts ruckman. He did as he wished in terms of the ruck taps but not much has changed in respect to him around the ground.

Hase has trimmed down and is moving pretty well.

Mundy played in defence

Johnson played up around the middle. Not on ball or wing as such, just seemed to be free around that area. Spent some time running with Sandi kinda like a tagger. Maybe that will be his role this year. Dont know if he will cut it as a pure onballer/winger.

Browne was very good. Put his head over the footy alot.

Drum did some nice things around half back. Like Mundy, wasnt played in the middle from what I saw.

Interesting that white had the forward line of Pav, Murphy and Campbell. When the purple had the Claremont colts player Ryan Gale as their go to forward. Gale was alright actually playing on Rumble.

For some reason you were reluctant to play McPharlin on Pav, prefering Grover for alot of the game and then the very underdone Haddrill. Which I found interesting considering Grover is a flanker and not in the class of McPharlin. Luke played in the packpocket, not CHB so I dont know what the thinking was there.

Cook nearly killed people namely Browne.

Dunn was amoungst it early but coughed the ball up badly on occasions.
Haddrill has some way to go.

gale isnt a colts player.
and whose the colts ruckmen hall if so he was off collingwoods list, but no match still.

I thought the second half showed more promise then the first.

maybe they were told not to play at full intensity? CC said on the interview afterwoods that he has to be careful with fitness and injuries so players can last the whole season.

Saw Schammer in the stands too, he was eating. I felt like buying him a hot dog so the runt can get some more weight :D

So you would be confident going into the NAB Cup Derby then?

So you would be confident going into the NAB Cup Derby then?

No. Considering we will be with out Judd, Kerr and Cousins.

Having said that, last week I thought you guys would win easily, after tonight I am alittle more confident.

I am not having a dig at the standard of your game in terms of it depicts how your season will un fold. Just tonight games wasnt that great skill or intensity wise. If the game was played on a different day, things would probably be different.

did the eagles play NAB Cup Rules TOA?

hmmm...actually cant remember. The only noticable rule in my eyes is the ball is in play after a poster. I dont remember that happening in our game. Could be wrong though. I'd say tomorrow night will be nab cup rules though.

So you would be confident going into the NAB Cup Derby then?

The result of that game doesn't directly relate to where the two teams are during their respective pre-seasons. Far too many other variables to take into consideration. Couldn't care less about the result of the NAB cup game, it's all about getting the players physically ready to go in round one. However I am very confident about our prospects in going back to back, which to me is more important than a NAB cup game.

Oh and I'm confident about round 3 ;)

I rekon people were leaving at half and 3/4 time because it was bloody cold sitting there! Was a scrappy first half but the second was good footy. Probably the three most dissapointing players for the match were Dodd, Johnson and Murphy. But it was only a practise match. Boy Browne was tough, the hit Cookie did on him was a typical Cook bump but Browne got right up. Looks like he really wants to be playing AFL. Another player that looks like he wants to show something was Walker, seriously i would not be suprised to see him back in the lineup.

dont get too big-headed.
You only beat the swannies by 1 point remember..
plus you will have fremantle, st kilda and bulldogs as improved sides this year, and adelaide should be up there again as well.
Just warning you..it will not be a walk in the park.
Up until that day when you possibly reach the gf, your heart will have beated another 4037094380 times :)

I thought my "Buddy" Ryan Crowley played very well - didn't play the whole game but guess that is due to an interrupted pre-season. Sandi and Pav were very good also.
