Totally different. RATM were heavily motivated by political issues, left wing in particular, and driven mainly by Zack. When they started Audioslave they made a conscious decision to not be so politically focused with their music.

I've watched it the whole way through and was a Mig fan from the start, but performing Bohemian Rhapsody tonight pretty much guaranteed that he would go. INXS was forever saying that they wanted him to leave the theatre work behind him- it was a risky choice that obviously didn't pay off.

I was never a real fan of J.D after all of the game playing crap he pulled, but once I looked past that it was clear that he was the one for the job. He's an awesome performer and has everything that INXS is looking for.

I look forward to hearing what they come out with.

Yeah, I was very much the same, but he kind of won me over for the role during the last few weeks. Certainly the best suited to Our-Band-INXS, and I think they might have realised it pretty early on.

Great series ... everything Idol wanted to be, but severely lacks.

I would not say that RATM and Audioslave are simply the same band but with a different lead singer. The rest of the band members are the same, yes, but that's about it. Their music is different, their direction is different, their motivations are different.

I vowed not to support INXS if JD won and right now, I stand by that (as if they would care).

Initially I wanted Mig or Suzie to win but Mig particularly let himself down in the last few weeks. His cheerful lyrics and demeanour really didn't suit INXS.

JD was chosen despite the public putting him in the bottom 3 a few times, because he has a certain look and because he was kissing the band's collective butt the whole time with his hero worship rubbish. He is a good impersonator but what the band have ultimately done is replaced Michael with the closest fit voice wise and in doing so will lose most of their fan base. If you make a distinct break from past roots, there is no comparison and people can judge for themselves. I wasn't the greatest INXS fan when Michael was alive but even now I see JD as a cover band imitation.

Marty really won me over in the end. He seems like a nice bloke, has modern music influences, is a better fit visually because it is hard to read the age difference between him and the band. He is a good songwriter and a very strong collaborator. JD twice rocked up and basically told Andrew Farriss to mould him how he wanted. The band obviously believe JD will be a yes man despite his earlier game playing. The writing was on the wall when Pretty Vegas got so much stage time. I'll bet my bottom dollar that PV will be on the 'already completed' new album and released as a single.

Personally I hope Marty gets 'Trees' recorded right away and pits it against Pretty Vegas ... and beats it. I will buy Marty's music, the guy has some quality as a rockstar.

As for Mig, he is really a pop star in waiting ... maybe only on a domestic front though. Would be a worthy Australian Idol winner.

Yep, JD went from little chance to front man because of one song. INXS went for the quick fix again.

Marty = A hybrid of David Bowie and a bad guy from Speed Racer.

JD was clearly the best fit. Clearly.

I always was a fan of J.D's even if he pull a bit of crap through the show. But when it comes to preformace, and best man for INXS - J.D was the one.

Marty is also a great preformer, he kinda reminds me of David Bowie when he was in the Labyrinth.

I watched Rock Star (i'm sorry you're just not roit for our band!) Inxs, from the beginning and i didn't like JD that much the whole way through, I was going for Marty, (never thought Mig was a chance sadly, a little too soft, imo) .

I love love loved Martys song - TREES... (downloaded it!)

And now towards the end of the series JD begun to grow on me.. Dunno Why!
I heard 'Pretty Vegas' on the radio today (Nova 100, Melbourne), Sounded pretty damn good... although i thought 'Easy Easy' was the first single released as they sang that at the final.. Oh well...

Anyway... I think i will be giving the new album a go and depending on that, i'll probably go to a live gig also...I thought it was good of Inxs to mention maybe Marty opening for them on a World Tour cos if that happens i'll definitely go and see them all.

It'll be odd if another Rock Star series is on, how many known (today) bands are looking for a lead singer?

Aren't TLC looking for a replacement for the chick that died from their band? I thought they were supposed to be doing some sort of reality TV search aswell.
