For me it's Growlithes, Sandshrews, Pidgeys, Rattatas and Geodudes.

Sooooo many Geodudes.
Funny how people have different Pokemons that are common.

My area is full of Pidgeys, Rattattas, Zubats, Ekans and Mankeys. To a lesser extent but still a lot, Paras and Growlithes too.

I only found and got 2 Geodudes.

What the **** is this curve ball shit. Until yesterday I had never thrown one. Now, every ******* throw is one no matter how straight I swipe and I sure as hell haven't changed method. A lot of pokeballs are disappearing because of this shit.
Was it a tough to catch Pokemon? Because I find that the curve thing comes in against a Pokemon with a high CP or one that is not as common.

Can people post suburbs with what are the common mon?

Melbourne:
Footscray - Doduo, Weedle and Pidgey
StKilda Rd / Commercial Rd - Rattata's, Zubat & Pidgey's
Albert Park Lake - Drowzee's

Would love anything else. 100's of candies sitting around that won't be used.

Posted by others below:
Pakenham - Rats, Zubats, Pidgeys, Weedles, Caterpies and Venonats....
Dandenong - Rattata, Pidgey, Zubat, Spearow
Bundoora - doduo, staryu, bulbasaur, goldeen and poliwag are easily the most common in my area

The curve is apparently being assumed as a mechanic.

The stronger pokemon have the ability to deflect your pokeballs when they are thrown straight. Its to encourage people to throw curveballs and is supposed to add "depth" to the higher level catching experience.

Just had 3 Growlithes in 3 minutes pop up.

And yes to the curve ball being annoying, had so many of them lately.

The problem is I get a curve ball for 3 shots so then I plan on the next shot being a curve ball and IT DOESN'T CURVE!

Ive found heaps of rare Pokemon around the burbs. Just look for areas with lists of rustling grass. There is a creek near my house and it's reliably giving me something new every day. Yesterday was vulpix, the day before Charmander. I've also found bulbasaur, abra, magma, hitmonchan and ghastly around the burbs. Sure, there are a heap of common mons too. I've also spent some time in oakleigh which has 6 stops in range of each other reliably with lures and have found lots there too, but not anything crazy rare to often, mostly just bulk of good stuff (evolved my polywhirl to wrath last night).

For gyms I'd love prestige and levels not to drop. You have to beat every Pokemon there with you 6 in one go or try again. It's easy to take down 3 and then run, heal up and than use your 6 mons on whatever is left.
You're lucky to live that close to quality mons!

My Pokedex is at 83 caught - at least 75 of these cannot be caught in my immediate area :(

I'm so mad. Was in the car on the freeway, and a hitmonlee popped up. Equal favourite Pokemon with Alakazam. Drove by and couldn't click on him to catch it. On the way back he was nowhere to be found. :'(:'(:'(

Ohhhh is that what that bar means haha.
Yeah the semi circle bar/arch is a graphic representation of what their CP is and its potential range. It's why super low ones with 10cp don't have any of the bar filled while big beefy ones are close to full. So for stuff that you are regularly sharding, Zubats, Rattatas, Pidgeys etc, just keep the ones who's bars are almost full as they will evolve the strongest.
