I'd imagine it goes back to being a ditto afterwards and you have still only seen but not captured whoever you're fighting.

This is exactly what happens. I came across a gym with tauros not long after getting my ditto and tested the idea of obtaining tauros that way.. it doesn't result in anymore than a 'seen' Pokemon.

Tell me about it. I've caught about thirty since yesterday and no Ditto.

It's a very smart money spinner by Niantec... I figure most people ignore those pokemon to stockpile pokeballs but not anymore.

To be fair, if everyone was catching heaps of Ditto, it'd be about a week before everyone complained that there were too many Ditto.

I've seen one as well when using the Go Plus but it obviously didn't catch whichever Pokémon it was disguised as.

It won't show up as ditto, it'll be anything but apparently it's seems to be more commonly the basics - pidgey rattata weedle zubat caterpie magikarp types that change into ditto as u catch it

Just catch all the pidgys - got mine relatively easy plus the double stardust and XP are a great bonus.

Oddly enough the only common ones I've seen since the tracker change are ratatta and pidgey wonder where the rest have gone

Twice today the app spazzing out over my location and then blanking the screen while telling me not to drive cost me a pokedex entry; a Vulpix while I was sitting down eating lunch, and Clefable while I was walking my dog. They're never going to fix that.
