GTA: Chinatown Wars has just come out and it looks pretty sweet.

I was going to download it last night, but hesitated with the $12 asking price.

Anyone got it?

Yeah the price is a bit steep but I got a $20 itunes voucher for christmas so I'll probably download it soon. All the reviews have been excellent.

I will wait untill it drops in $$ a bit to. Thats just to much for a phone game IMO.

$5 Is usually my limit and even then i am thinking twice!! :D

i'm in banking and walked into officeworks with the intent of buying a financial calculator last week. cheapest i could find was $79 and even though i could claim it on tax i couldn't justify that (or reasonably explain to my missus)
downloaded a fully functional financial calc from the app store for $7.99 and it does everything i need it to do.
well done istore, saved:thumbsu: me $60

Had my iPhone jailbroken with ProSwitcher and all the other neccessary bits and my phone was just getting slower and slower by the day. Completely restored it back to the original software and don't think I will ever Jailbreak again. Runs 10x smoother than it did before the restore and all the programs that seemed to be crashing no longer have that problem. Jailbreaking is great but you just can't go past having everything running at full speed.

Do miss my 5 icon dock though :)

I get mines tomorrow.

With teh download limit. I have just gone for the one that comes with the $9 cap which is like 250 megs. If i get a free app what is the cost of this with terms of downloading it?

@OldMav. You cannot use 3G to download apps > 10MB. You have to either use wifi or download via your computer. 250MB will be plenty. I have 750MB but I use a lot and monitor my usage daily.

So if i download them when using my Wifi at home, this shouldnt cost me any of my month usuage r+b?

Wifi is free Mav. It will cost you nothing to surf the net at home when your Iphone connects to your modem.

If you end up jailbreaking, you can turn EDGE off if you want to. It stops the iPhone from connecting to the net if you're conscious about data usage.

I am not computer savvy.......what does this mean?

iPhones and their apps are always trying to connect to the internet for locational services or just to update. If you are really concious about data usuage you really should turn it off in the settings so you don't chew through your downloads.
This is especially important when you are overseas so you don't get charged astronomical data charges for something you don't even think you are doing. I got burnt big time in Amsterdam

Bit the bullet and acquired one the other day. Brilliant device, but the message alerts are terrible!

Anyone tried SoundHound by Midomi? It's a rival application to Shazam.

All reports I read say that it's better than Shazam.

Shazam is literally flawless. I have never had any trouble with it.

And probably Midomi is just as good.

It's probably just a choice of UI.

Although I think Midomi allows you to sing the tune yourself. Don't know how accurate it could be though.

The apps are very simple. You can't really improve Shazam ... Could you?

What's the best way of (permanently) getting rid of apps that you no longer want? Do you just untick them and sync, or is there a better way?

I'm currently sitting on 84 apps. Scrolling through the pages is a pain in the arse.

That'll get them off your iphone. You can also just delete them from itunes if you've become sick of them.

Yes I prefer SoundHound to Shazam because of this feature. And it's pretty damn good at picking up my awful singing. To top it off you can then listen to other people's awful singing of the same song.

Only 84 apps :D?

So has anyone found a free texting app that actually works in Australia?

I mean like texting from iPhone to mobile phone.

Pretty annoyed at the moment. Phone keeps freezing for 3- 5 seconds. Is happening really frequently, up to 3 or 4 times per text message I send. My battery has started to go down really fast as well. All this has happened all of a sudden today.

Any ideas on what could be wrong? And yes I googled it.

Tried resetting it? Lag could be due to lack of memory due to too many apps open (Lots of Safari tabs, iPod, Mail, etc)

Is it JB?
