Yup I think those are the biggest rumours going around. Also a compass is a pretty safe bet as well.

Going to be extremely interesting to see what they come up with.

IMO old Iphone is rubbish in terms of lack of standard features in most phones already out there, what sells it is the number of applications available.

I just pray the battery life in this new version is descent, 5 hrs talk time would be awesome.

Compass will make all the GPS stuff a lot better. Maps would be able to automatically orientate to the direction you are facing.

Digital radio would be great, don't think it is going to happen.

Do you guys reckon that the new software will be slightly compromised considering they are likely to release new hardware in the next few months?

Surely they won't want to improve the software out of site just prior to the new one?

most of the selling points from the website are from the OS not the actual phone. Only big difference for me would be the faster speed and the camera.

Video editing i dont see myself doing on the iphone, why would i when i have Adobe Master Collection at home?

Bigger camera would be nice, but ive gone a year with this one and its "ok", nothing special but does the job.

If optus upgrade me ill take one, if not ill wait until next year when i think they will make a huge upgrade, this years version was a bit of an anti climax for some i think.

Yeah the interface/multitasking and the gmail/facebook integration totally kills it for me.

Agree, the camera thing is most shocking. Nokia has had a 5mp camera for over 2 years, Apple can't even get a 5mp camera in there? Unbelievable.

Everything they launched today was predicted, and underwhelming as another poster said. I really thought they were going to pull a rabbit out of the hat in some form or another but they didnt, and even the 2 features MMS and tethering cant even be used in the US for at least 3 months, lol-z.

I hear the complaints about camera resolution all the time, and rightly so I guess, but full-blown PDAs just don't have good cameras compared to mobile phones. Depends what your priority is. Full PDA functionality (PIM) is my first priority.

Thanks for the info mate. Had a look at the Palm Pre and must say it is very enticing. I like the idea of a keypad much more than the touch screen typing (can't use my brothers iPhone to text for penuts), but I think the landscape keyboard might solve that problem.

Yeah mate they are both great phones, different people will like different features. Don’t think you can go wrong with either.

i think the reason why they didnt go over the top with the 3GS is because they signed most people up to 2 year deals last year with the 3G.

Next year there should be a massive upgrade as they will want to keep all the people already signed up. In a years time there will be alot more phones to rival the iPhone so they will probably do something huge to make sure they keep the users?

If its another fizzle next year...... then i think there should be some heads rolling.

I was semi thinking that this would have been a good surprise Steve Jobs comeback??
