How much internet do you guys use a month on average? Thinking of going a $59 cap which includes 700mb. How often could you use it a day to just surf around (excluding stuff like youtube which kills the usage)

Mmm, right you are. I can't beleive I didn't get my Peggle facts correct prior to posting. I feel dirty and ashamed and as punishment I have placed myself on a peggle hiatus for 48 hours. I hope that one day I can be forgiven. :D

Quite funny that I got it wrong because I even questioned the 25,000 while typing it but didn't check. :o

I seem to have an insane ability to get the 10,000 even when it looks like I'm right on target for the 100,000. The ball will clip that little hump between the targets and bob up, somehow skipping the 50,000 and giving me the crappy 10.

Happens almost every time!

700mb is huge. I've been on a 500mb for 11 months and I've never come close to it. The largest probably is 330mb.

Well technically there is a 25,000 bucket. If you play the computer in a duel, then the point buckets at the end are halved. :thumbsu:

Picked one up on the weekend. I have been on a Crackberry for two and a half years and was sceptical, but this phone is bloody amazing.

Got the $114 UNLIMITED cap from Vodafone with 2GB of data a month and the 32GB iPhone free. Great deal.

Ahh, that would be it. I was sure I had seen a 25,000 bucket but when I went back and checked I couldn't find it. Thanks for putting my mind at rest :D

Sunday Red - You won't regret your choice. They are great phones and don't get boring after a few weeks use :thumbsu:

I'm picking mine up tomorrow (16GB one Optus's $59 plan). Does anyone have any suggestions for apps I should get?

Peggle.....:p

I also use these everyday:

Facebook (if you use it of course)
Free RSS Reader
Aussie Rules Live (The best app, absolute must!)
ABC News App (Integrated news, very easy to read)
Oz Weather (Uses bom.gov.au for results so very accurate)

Other good ones:

Bejeweled 2
Pocket God (always updated)
..did I say Peggle?

EDIT* I forgot 'Shazam' It's free and a must for music lovers. Quite amazing how well it works!

Will look into all of these. Thanks. LB, what is 'Free RSS Reader'?

RSS feeds are just news stories which are taken off the net and presented in a simple form. I use it for AFL and a couple of tech blogs (eg. Gizmodo)

Its is great for sites which you visit quite often because it saves you from opening Safari and waiting for everything to load. It just gets everything you want to read for you. :thumbsu:

I'm on 3, and I read over at OCAU that 3 will release their plans on Friday July 3.

One issue I have with the iPhone is screen real estate. Most pictures I see show apps with standard fonts, which in my opinion, are too big. I want a smaller font and to fit more on the screen. Can this be done? Is it app-dependent?

Has qckpwn come out for the OS 3.0 yet?

Btw, If people haven't noticed yet, this website I have allows you to pick up all your apps from the itunes store for free.

http://appulo.us/appdb/

I have a question about the App Store that I am hoping someone can answer.

I have downloaded about 20 apps since getting my iPhone last week. If I log into MY iTunes account on my girlfriend's iPhone, will it recognise the apps I have bought and download them to her handset, or does it only allow you to download apps to one phone only?

My wife and i use the same account and we only have to pay for everything once. You just download everything twice but you dont have to pay for it the second time. Hope this helps

Picked up a new 3GS 16gb model today...i'm in love already.

Anyone wanna give me a list of good apps to d/l? My girlfriend already has peggle so I'm already on the bandwagon, and I've already downloaded facebook.

does your phone need to be jail broken for the above website?

Yeah it does. You won't get anything illegal working on your phone without it being jailbroken. Appulo has pretty much everything as soon as it hits the Apple store so if you love downloading heaps of app's (but are poor) it is definitely the way to go.

Using that method will work and is quite easy to do. Only problem I encountered was during restore and also the other person running out of authorisations (sp?) You won't stuff anything up it just won't load on your phone if doesn't think you have paid for it. ;)

I wrote a list of everything I use regularly just a page back if you want to check it out. Shazam is a must:thumbsu:

Since I am in a similar boat (got my iPhone on Saturday!), I'll type a list of what I have got so far and my thoughts on each app. Just visit the app store and search the title of each app if you want to check them out. Prices are approximate only:

TOOLS/UTILITIES

OzWeather ($2.50) - more accurate than the standard weather application that is pre-loaded. The source is the BOM, so it's credible and also gives you radar images and longer range forecasts.

Facebook (free) - if you don't know what this is, you've been living under a rock.

LinkedIn (free) - similar to Facebook, but professional networking.

eBay (free) - eBay on your phone, handy!

XE Currency (free) - the best currency converter around.

AP Mobile (free) - a news channel that grabs stories from the Associated Press. A good app that you can customise to get stories that are of interest to you/

NYTimes (free) - the New York Times, if you like checking in on American news.

ABC (free) - news, sport and weather from the ABC.

fring (free) - all your instant messengers in one app (MSN, AIM, Yahoo etc...)

Google Earth (free) - wow... this is AMAZING (and so fast!) Just be careful if you don't have a high data cap with your plan, but if you have a lot, go nuts because it's phenomenal.

ESPN ScoreCenter (free) - scoreboards for any sport you want. Super app, especially if you're into AMerican sports.

AussieRules LIVE ($3.50) - the best AFL app around. I am blown away by this. Extremely fast, accurate and reliable. Live scores (and DT) points updated in progress, as well as stats, ladders etc.

Wimbledon (free) - all the news, live scores, schedule of play and videos from Wimbledon.

Nova (free) - stream Nova to your phone (or any subsiduary stations ie. Vega)

Banking (most are free) - most Australian banks have launched their own apps. I am with Westpac, but there are others for Comm Bank, NAB etc. that let you bank online and find branches and ATM's.

Shazam (free) - just get it. A mind boggling app that will tell you the title and artist of a song just by listening to a few seconds of it.

tramTracker (free) - great if you use public transport a lot. You can customise it to your regular routes and it tells you how close the next tram is to save time.

Viclink (free) - similar to the above, but includes all Victorian public transport.

Qantas (free) - arrival and departure times, as well as Qantas lounge locations and facilities.

AusPostcode (free) - tells you the postcode of any Australian suburb or city.

AroundMe (free) - pinpoints your location and tells you what is in your area including bars, restaurants, cafes, ATM's, hotels, taxi ranks etc. Great for nights out on the town!

Wikipanion (free) - a good Wikipedia search tool.

myBattery ($2.50) - tells you exactly how much life your battery has for various functions including talk time, 3G web browsing, wi-fi web, video playback etc. Useful if you are a heavy user of your iPhone.

FREE Wi-Fi (free) - tells you the nearest free Wi-Fi spots.

iHandy Level (free) - a level on your phone (you know that handy little tool with the bubble that carpenters and handymen use?) Useless on the whole (unless it's your profession), but a nice novelty.

Planets (free) - guide to the stars and planets. Haven't explored this one much, but it looks cool.

RulerPlus (free) - a ruler on your phone which can be handy.

Flashlight (free) - turns your phone into a flashlight by turning the screen white.

GAMES

FlightControl ($2.00) - just get it! One of the best games out there. Guide planes in to land at various airfields and play the role of air traffic controller.

HarborMaster ($2.00) - same as above, just with boats rather than planes!

Toobz (free) - remember the old 'Pipe Dream' Windows game? This is very addictive...

Scramble (free) - if you like word games, you'll like this. Very similar to the traditional 'Boggle' game whereby you form words from a random square of letters using letters that join.

WildWest (free) - a neat wild west pinball game.

Paper Toss (free) - toss balls of paper into a bin! Seems useless, but is quite addictive.

FS5 Hockey (free) - air hockey on your phone!

BlackJack (free, depending on which version) - this one speaks for itself.

Target (free) - shoot a gun at various Targets. Haven't played with this one much yet.

LCube Lite (free) - a rubix cube. I hate puzzle games, so I don't know why I got this!!

Chase The Dot (free) - a neat reflex test.

Ocarina ($2.50) - turns your iPhone into an ocarina when you blow into the microphone.

Lightsaber (free) - turns your iPhone into a Star Wars light sabre. Very useless, but a bit of fun.

BubbleWrap (free) - surprisingly addictive. See how many virtual bubbles you can pop!

OTHER TOOLS

BigOven (free) - a searchable database of over 150,000 recipes! Simply enter some ingredients or what you want to cook, and recipes will instantly appear.

Drinks Pro ($2.50) - same as above, but for alcoholic drinks!

iTrain (free) - haven't played with this yet, but you can track your fitness training.

Trapster (free) - a very cool app that pinpoints where you are and tells you nearby speed traps, red light cameras and positions where police uually hide.

MultiConvert (free) - a great little conversion tool for all units.

WW Capitals (free) - test your world knowledge with countries, flags and capitals.

iTranslate (free) - translator for a whole variety of languages.

AllCountries (free) - a fact file on every single country in the world. Great reference tool.

Real Football 2009 is $1.19 as well now, Hero of Sparta for $1.19 as well. Two bargains there.

Haha, watched Top Gear this afternoon and promply labelled it my housemates favourite app :D

What a joke that app is! You would have to be so desperate to have it running in a club. It's almost like fishing.

One question I had though, is Steven Fry gay?

Tried Shazam and it says that it works with the Touch if you have the headset with a mic, but when I plug the mic in it still gives me the message telling me it's not there.
