Wait wat I just got to a part that said "Wait don't shoot! Jump on monsters" and there were no platforms, only monsters which you can jump on once before they die. Must be part of the new update. Needless to say it completely threw me and I fell to my death. Was on 30 000+ as well :(
 
anyone have problems with the Remote app?

it worked for me a while ago but now it wont.

Both computer and iPhone are connected to the same wireless network.
Havent enabled iTunes in the firewall exceptions (even tried turning the firewall off)
the "Look for remotes" box is checked.

but it just wont appear in the Devices section?
 
Picked up a 16gig one today on 3. Loving it so far.

A few qns;
- Will OS 3.1 be installed on it already?
- Where can I find step-by-step noob instructions on how to JB?
- Apps I should familiarise myself with? (don't really want to go back through the 15 pages of this thread).

1. Probably not. I think it would depend on the shipment. If it is from a very recent shipment, then possibly. If not, then it would have 3.0.1 on it.

2. If you have 3.1, then nothing easy yet. Would require restoring a hacked IPSW and that can get confusing and time heavy. If you managed to grab a 3.0.1 then download one of these (MAC or PC)

RedSn0w 0.8 (Jailbreak Tool):

WIN version: http://rapidshare.com/files/253254068/redsn0w-WIN_0.8.exe.zip

then download the IPSW (you need this even though it is already installed)

Open redsn0w, and follow the walkthrough instructions. Cannot get any easier.

3. Apps. Depends on what your after. If your going to JB, then everything is free, so go crazy pretty much.

How would I check which OS I have?

And with apps, I assume the idea is just to d/l them on the PC and then transfer over to save on data usage?
 
bah, got OS 3.1 already installed. Guess I'll have to wait to JB.
 
I'll have to find this really good JB link for you at home.

In the meantime, get: Shazam, iiQuota, Facebook, Skype, Pocket Weather or Oz Weather, Metlink, tramTracker, Flight Control, Zombieville USA, Doodle Jump, Word Ace, geoDefense ...

... for starters.

Most probably have lite versions also.
 
Ok, i just bought one of these puppies.

Please tell me there is a setting where you can switch on an alert for when you miss calls or texts? I can't seem to find it. My old crappy Motorola had this function. Or do you have to check your phone constantly to check that you haven't missed any calls or texts?

There is a good Cydia app for that; of course, you need to JB. :p

When you have a new message, missed phone call or email, a pic appears on the bar at the top near where the time is etc. I cant remember what the app is called....

Finally broke out some decent scores in DJ. Got my best to 36001, with 2 more over 35k.

10th best is 25256. Need that higher.

Hey guys just bought my IPhone 3GS today from 3, and was wondering is there any way wotsoever to get my own songs as my ringtones? i have read quickkly through the last 10 or 15 pages and there is no mention of it that i can see.

Search for a small program called iRinger. It's free. It creates the 30 second clip of whatever song you want, and imports to iTunes in the correct format. Then just sync it on.
 
got a weird issue. 8 of my apps now have the wrong icon for some reason.

i was thinking of deleting the problem apps then reinstalling them :confused:

just 1 more quick question.
when i click on my ring tones tab in my itunes and click on sinc ringtones, it says if i select this it will remove all songs and video off my iphone. when i did it it added the ring tone but deleted all my music.
everytime i add a new ring tone will i have to add my music and other stuff on there again?

Manually sync. Just drag them into the iPhone.
 
I've used Genius before for a few songs.
I cleared my library due to a few duplicates and put all the songs back in again.
Now whenever I choose to Genius a song it says I don't have enough similar songs to create a list (even for a song I've done it with before).
Anyone else had a similar problem with Genius?
 
Anyone have a birthday app?

I can populate birthday fields in Contacts and they show up in Calendar. That's fine. But what if I want to record the birthday's for my friend's 3 kids? I don't want to create a Contact for all of my friend's kids. But I do want their birthdays to show up in my Calendar.

Anyone have a Birthday app which has a database that you can manually put in dates?

My father passed away two years ago. His birthday shows up in my Calendar, but I want to also record the date he died. Currently I just create an all-day appointment, recurring every year, but I'd rather have a separate database of dates, so I could see all birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
