Problem. I have a non-JB iPhone 3GS. I have a lot of apps. In fact, I have 11 screens, which I now know is the maximum. But yesterday I was trying to move an app to a new blank (12th) screen. Couldn't do it. So I was only 2 or 3 apps shy of completely filling 11 screens, so I thought once they're full, if I download another app, that should automatically create a new blank screen.
Well I was wrong. But I wasn't sure what exactly happened. The app was the IMDB app, but I couldn't find it anywhere, I assumed it hadn't installed. I deleted a few apps and went to install IMDB again. App Store tells me it's already installed. I look around, still couldn't find it.
But if I can open this invisible app if I use the Spotlight Search for IMDB. Anyone know what happened? Is it possible that you can actually install more than 11 screens of apps, but that the excess will not display as an icon and can only be loaded from Spotlight Search?

Two ways!
First to jailbreak and but your apps into folders.
Second is to ask yourself if you use 11 pages of apps? any that you can live without? Once you have some room turn the phone off then back on and it should have refreshed the springboard.
Otherwise when your phone is plugged into itunes there is an option in the applications tab to rearrange your apps, you should be able to see every app on your phone and do it that way.
(i guess thats 3 ways)

one of the best features of a jailbroken phone is that you don't have to have the standard iphone apps, like stock quotes or their crappy weather app.
Anyway I thought that the folders app was available through the itunes store? 11 screens is the iphone equivalent of having a desktop full of icons.

You would think that with the next OS update, Apple will have to improve the GUI. The standard 16 (+4) icon n-JB screen looks very tired and dated. People wouldn't feel the need to jailbreak if the iPhone delivered more of what people want, otherwise I feel that over time Android's market share will continue to increase.

I accidentally upgraded to 3.1.3 FW from 3.1.2 JB FW. Looks like there's no way back. FML
that was a huge mistake.
When I get offered a new phone when my contract runs out, I won't be using it... because it will mean syncing with the latest itunes

ahh cos its free, so i'll just use it as an ipod touch I guess, cos my simcard will stay in the JB phone

One noticeable difference is that the phone (3G) isn't sluggish anymore. It used to really grind to a halt after browsing a few web pages.
